Abstract

The support for fixing a light fitting to a wall comprises two distinct parts (12A,12B).     Claims (29)

    1. An assembly comprising a luminaire (10) and a support hook for fixing the luminaire to a wall, which is formed by two separate portions, namely a support portion (12A), by means of a plate (14) of which it is adapted to be fixed to the wall (11) to be equipped, and a support portion (12B) which is to be fitted to the fixing portion (12A) by way of complementary interengagement means (51, 51) of which one portion is provided on the fixing portion (12A) and the other on the support portion (12B) and which is capable of receiving the luminaire (10) to be fixed, the support portion (12B) comprising a main beam (48) by way of which it is capable of being fitted to the fixing portion (12A) in one or other of two mutually orthogonal orientations, namely a first orientation in which said main beam (48) extends parallel to the plate (14) of the fixing portion (12A) in such a way that the luminaire (10) then itself extends parallel to the wall, and a second orientation in which said main beam (48) extends perpendicularly to said plate (14) in such a way that the luminaire (10) then itself extends perpendicularly to the wall, characterised in that, the luminaire being provided with a body (80) of an elongate contour, the main beam is of a contour similar to that of the body (80) of the luminaire (10), and that the portion of the complementary interengagement means which is disposed on the support portion (12B) comprises a first set (J) of interengagement means (52), which is disposed in a central zone of the beam (48) and by which the beam (48) is fitted to the fixing portion (12A) in its first orientation, and a second set (J') of interengagement means (52), which is disposed in the proximity of an end of the beam (48) and by which the beam (48) is fitted to the fixing portion (12A) in its second orientation.
    2. An assembly according to claim 1 characterised in that the fixing portion (12A) comprises an arm (15) which extends in cantilever relationship from its plate (14) and which is capable of receiving the associated support portion (12B).
    3. An assembly according to claim 2 characterised in that, for its support on the wall (11), the plate (14) comprises at least two bosses (22, 23) which, being transversely rounded, are disposed at a spacing from each other.
    4. An assembly according to claim 3 characterised in that one (23) of the bosses (22, 23) belongs to a bar member (25) which, being separate from the plate (14), is fitted adjustably in respect of position thereon.
    5. An assembly according to any one of claims 2 to 4 characterised in that the arm (15) of the fixing portion (12A) is in one piece with the plate (14).
    6. An assembly according to claim 5 characterised in that the arm (15) of the fixing portion (12A) is smaller in width than the width of its plate (14) with, at its root, a flange portion (34) which connects it laterally on respective sides thereto.
    7. An assembly according to either one of claims 5 and 6 characterised in that the fixing portion (12A) internally comprises a reinforcement (35) which extends in part within its plate (14) and in part within its arm (15).
    8. An assembly according to any one of claims 1 to 7 characterised in that associated with the fixing portion (12A) is a cap (36) which forms a cover and which is independent of the support portion (12B).
    9. An assembly according to any one of claims 1 to 8 characterised in that the support portion (12B) comprises a support member (50) by way of which it is capable of receiving the luminaire (10) to be fixed.
    10. An assembly according to one of claims 1 to 9 characterised in that said interengagement means comprise, in projecting relationship on the lower surface of the arm (15) of the fixing portion (12A), at least one boss (51) and, in recessed relationship on the upper surface of the main beam (48) of the support portion (12B), at least two cups (52) which being identical with each other and each complementary with the boss (51) are disposed at a spacing from each other and for the intervention of a fixing screw (53) the boss (51) axially comprises a bore (54) and the bottom of each of the cups (52) comprises an opening (55) in corresponding relationship.
    11. An assembly according to claim 10 characterised in that the bore (54) in the boss (51) is screw-threaded and belongs to a sleeve (57) which is moulded in the manner of an insert in said boss (51).
    12. An assembly according to either one of claims 10 and 11 characterised in that in projecting relationship on the lower surface of the arm (15) of the fixing portion (12A) there are two bosses (51) which are disposed at a spacing (D) from each other and the main beam (48) of the support portion (12B) comprises in corresponding relationship two sets (J, J') of two cups (52), which sets are disposed in two mutually orthogonal directions and of which the two cups (52) are spaced from each other by a spacing (D) equal to that of said bosses (51).
    13. An assembly according to claim 12 characterised in that one of the sets (J) of cups (52) extends in the central zone of the main beam (48) in parallel relationship with the direction of elongation thereof.
    14. An assembly according to claim 12 characterised in that one of the sets (J') of cups (52) extends in the proximity of one of the transverse ends of the main beam (48) in perpendicular relationship with the direction of elongation thereof.
    15. An assembly according to any one of claims 1 to 14 characterised in that the main beam (48) of the support portion (12B) comprises closure portions (58) which can be knocked out.
    16. An assembly according to any one of claims 1 to 15 characterised in that the main beam (48) of the support portion (12B) forms a cable track (67) on its lower surface.
    17. An assembly according to claim 9 characterised in that the support member (50) that the support portion (12B) comprises carries a terminal assembly (76) for electrical connection of the luminaire (10).
    18. An assembly according to claim 17 characterised in that the terminal assembly (76) is fitted removably to the support member (50) that the support portion (12B) comprises.
    19. An assembly according to claim 9 characterised in that the support member (50) that the support portion (12B) comprises extends in the central region of the main beam (48) in perpendicular relationship therewith and along one of its longitudinal edges.
    20. An assembly according to claim 9 characterised in that the support member (50) that the support portion (12B) comprises forms a component which, separate from its main beam (48), is fitted thereto by fixing screws (70).
    21. An assembly according to claim 9 characterised in that provided between the body (80) that the luminaire (10) comprises for supporting a light source (79) and said support member (50) are engagement means with ribs (83) and groves (84) for mounting said body (80) on said support member (50) by simple sliding movement.
    22. An assembly according to claim 17 characterised in that provided between the body (80) of the luminaire and the terminal assembly (76) are complementary plug-in connecting means with sockets (93) and pins (94) for connecting the body (80) to the terminal assembly (76) by simple plugging engagement.
    23. An assembly according to any one of the preceding claims characterised in that latching means (65, 90) are provided between the body (80) of the luminaire (10) and the main beam (48) of the support portion (12B) of the support hook (12).
    24. An assembly according to any one of the preceding claims characterised in that complementary engagement means (88, 89) are provided between the body (80) of the luminaire (10) and the main beam (48) of the support portion (12B) of the support hook (12).
    25. An assembly according to any one of the preceding claims characterised in that, the body (80) of the luminaire (10) having a housing (81) for fitting the light source (79), said housing (81) extends at the lower surface of said body (80).
    26. An assembly according to claim 25 characterised in that it comprises a cap (95) which is removably fitted to the lower surface of the body (80) and which is translucent.
    27. An assembly according to claim 25 characterised in that the body (80) of the luminaire, at its lower surface and on respective sides of the housing (81) for fitting the light source (79), has latching means (103) for suspending a translucent plate (104).
    28. An assembly according to claim 27 characterised in that the luminaire (10) comprises a cap (95') which is removably fitted to the lower surface of its body (80) and which has a slot (112) for passing the translucent plate (104).
    29. An assembly according to any one of claims 26 to 28 characterised in that the body (80) of the luminaire (10) is sheathed by a cover (99) which extends freely between the main beam (48) of the support portion (12B) of the support hook (12) and its cap (95, 95'), being retained thereby, and which is removable.
