Definitions
- the invention relates to an adapter fitting for the optional connection of a radiator provided with a radiator valve to the inlet and return pipe of a single-pipe or two-pipe heating system, with a housing in which two channels are provided, one of which is a connector for detachable connection of the inlet pipe with a connector for the detachable connection of the inlet opening of the radiator or a fitting leading to it, whereas the other channel connects a socket for the detachable connection of the return pipe with another socket for the detachable connection of the outlet opening of the radiator or an associated fitting, and in each of these channels, a shut-off valve is provided, and there is a connecting channel connecting the two channels, in which a regulating and shut-off valve is located, the two shut-off valves actuating one another and independently of the regulating and shut-off valve are cash.
- Such adapter fittings are known (DE-A-3,934,837). On the one hand, they form a connection piece with which a radiator of any type, e.g. a panel or sectional heater, depending on the circumstances, can be connected to the pipes of a single-pipe heating system or a two-pipe heating system. On the other hand, such fittings make it possible to change the supply system, i.e. to switch from a single-pipe heating system to a two-pipe heating system or vice versa, even if the radiators are already installed.
- the two shut-off valves serve to be able to shut off the radiator without obstructing the function of the system, be it because the room in which the radiator is located should not be heated, be it for the purpose of replacing the radiator or the like.
- the two shut-off valves are designed as taps which can be actuated from the front of the fitting, ie as a rule the side of the radiator facing the space to be heated.
- This construction has the disadvantage that the shut-off valves are difficult to access when the valve - for what Reasons always - must be connected rotated by 180 °. It is also disadvantageous that when the connection between the fitting and the radiator is loosened, the water runs out of it, since the outflow opening for the heating medium from this radiator is generally arranged at a lower point thereof.
- the invention has for its object to avoid these disadvantages and to improve a valve of the type described above so that the actuation of the shut-off valves is always possible and that there is a possibility for a controlled emptying of the radiator in any position of the same, without the operation the other radiators in the system.
- the invention solves this problem in that the two shut-off valves have rectilinearly adjustable closure bodies, that the adjustment directions of these closure bodies lie in a common plane spanned by the axes of the two connecting pieces to be connected to the heating element or its fitting, and that at least one of the connecting pieces leading to the radiator or its armature leads to the drainage opening that can be closed independently of the shut-off valves and the regulating and shut-off valve.
- the two shut-off valves can thus be actuated from the two sides of the fitting, so that it does not matter in which position the fitting is connected to the pipes for the heating medium supply.
- the radiator can be emptied in a controlled manner by means of the emptying opening when the shut-off valves are closed; the water flowing out through this emptying opening can be easily collected with a suitable vessel or removed in another suitable manner.
- the invention offers the advantage that the fitting can be mounted in both possible positions, so that by selecting this position, the position of the emptying opening is adapted to the position of the outflow opening of the radiator.
- the construction can easily be provided with a drain opening on each of the two nozzles, or two construction variants are provided, one of which has the drain opening on the left nozzle is connected, the other to the right.
- the axis of the emptying opening lies in the plane mentioned, which also makes this opening easily accessible in all possible positions of the fitting.
- the arrangement is such that the axis of the drain opening is coaxial with the axis of the associated shut-off valve. This simplifies production and enables a space-saving and material-saving construction.
- the two adjusting devices and the axis of the emptying opening are expediently coaxial, preferably horizontal.
- the horizontal, coaxial position makes it possible to maintain the familiar H-shaped basic shape of the valve, although in principle deviations from it would also be possible.
- the invention also makes it possible to eliminate a further disadvantage of the known construction described at the outset.
- This disadvantage is that in a single-pipe heating system, the water swirls into the radiator even when the radiator valve is closed, thereby heating it more or less, even if the regulating and shut-off valve arranged in the connecting channel is fully open.
- the arrangement is such that the valve seat of at least one shut-off valve is arranged in a wall section lying normal to the associated adjustment direction of a wall penetrating the associated channel, which forms a deflection surface for the heating medium flowing from the associated pipeline , which directs this heating medium towards the connecting channel.
- a particularly expedient embodiment of the invention consists in designing at least one of the two closure bodies as a presetting body guided with threads in order to be able to combine the shut-off function with the presetting function.
- FIG. 1 shows a vertical section through the adapter fitting with the closure bodies in the open position and the closed regulating and shut-off valve.
- Fig. 2 shows an analog sectional view of the regulating and shut-off valve in the open position.
- Fig.3 is a section along the line III-III of Fig.2.
- Fig.4 shows the valve according to Fig.1 in the closed position of the two closure bodies.
- 5 shows a variant in the design of the housing. 6 and 7 each show a variant in the design of the nozzle for connection to the pipes of the supply system.
- the adapter fitting 1 has a housing 2 which is essentially H-shaped.
- the two vertical legs of the H form two channels 3, 4 running parallel to one another and the horizontal leg of the H is formed by a connecting channel 5 connecting the two channels 3, 4.
- the two lower ends of the channels 3, 4 are each provided with a connector 6 or 7 for detachable connection to the pipeline of a single-pipe heating system or to the two pipes of a two-pipe heating system.
- the two nozzles 6, 7 are provided with threads 8. It is assumed that the socket 6 forms the inlet and the socket 7 forms the outlet for the heating medium, which is indicated by arrows 9.
- the two upward-facing ends of the channels 3, 4 are provided with sockets 10 and 11 for releasable connection to the radiator (not shown) or a fitting 12 leading to it.
- the two connecting pieces 10, 11 are designed with flat end faces 13, on which flat seals 14 are placed, which or the like due to the components 15 of the fitting to be connected. be squeezed together.
- these components are provided with threads 16, onto which union nuts 17 can be screwed, which the Neck 10.11 surrounded with play.
- the union nuts 17 are supported against abutments 18 which are held by snap rings which are embedded in the outer wall of the connecting pieces 10, 11.
- Each channel 3, 4 is penetrated by a wall 19 and 20, respectively, which connects the ends of the connecting pieces 6, 10 and 7, 11 facing each other.
- Each of these walls 19, 20 has a central section 21 which runs in the axial direction of the channels 3 or 4 or normal to the axis of the connecting channel 5.
- Each section 21 has a circular passage opening 22, which forms a valve seat 23 for a closure body 24 or 25 of a shut-off valve 26 or 27, with which the relevant channel 3 or 4 can be closed.
- the adjustment direction of each of the closure bodies 24, 25 is in the axial direction of the connecting channel 5 or normal to the axes of the channels 3, 4 and lies in a plane which is spanned by the axes of the two connecting pieces 10, 11 which are used to connect the heating element to serve.
- the adjustment directions of the two closure bodies 24, 25 are coaxial to one another and are also coaxial to the adjustment direction of the closure body 28 of a regulating and shut-off valve 29.
- the closure body 28 works together with a valve seat 30 and is provided with an extension acting as a throttle body 31, which extends along its circumference lateral flats 32 or recesses is provided, for example with appropriate millings.
- This regulating and shut-off valve 29 is used in one-pipe operation as a presetting for the amount of heating medium flowing via the connecting duct 5 acting as a bypass to the radiator, since the connecting duct 5 is shunted to the radiator, or as a shut-off for the connecting duct 5 if the radiator is operated in a two-pipe system .
- the housing 2 has a connecting piece 33 connected to the section of the channel 4 in the area of the connecting piece 11 and has an emptying opening 34 through which the heating element can be emptied when the shut-off valves 26, 27 are closed, if - as was assumed above - the mentioned Section of the channel 4 is connected to the drain connector of the radiator, so that essentially all of the water in the radiator can be drained from the radiator.
- This drain opening 34 can be closed by a plug 35, which can be screwed into a thread 36 of the socket 33, but has at least one flattened portion 37 in its inner part, in order not to have to completely unscrew the plug 35 from the socket 33 in order to empty the radiator and nevertheless a controlled emptying of the Secure radiator.
- a cap 38 is screwed onto an external thread of the connector 33 and seals this connector.
- the plug 35 also serves as a guide for the adjustment movement of the closure body 25.
- the latter has an externally threaded flange 39 which is screwed into the same thread of the socket 33 as the plug 35.
- This flange 39 forms a spindle 40 with an extension , which passes through the plug 35 to the outside and at its outer end with a square 41 or the like. is provided for the approach of a tool.
- This square 41 sits in a corresponding recess 42 of the plug 35 which is so large that the attachment of the tool, e.g. a square socket wrench, after removing the cap 38 is easily possible.
- the closure body 25 of the shut-off valve 27 can easily be brought into the shut-off position from the side of the fitting 1 (FIG. 4), the flange 39 sliding with the closure body 25 on the spindle 40. Any intermediate positions are also possible, the closure body 25 forming a presetting body.
- the closure body 24 of the shut-off valve 26 and the closure body 28 together with the throttle body 31 of the regulating and shut-off valve 29 can be actuated from the opposite side of the fitting 1.
- the closure body 24 of the shut-off valve 26 is screwed into an internal thread 43 of a connector 44 of the housing 1 coaxial with the connecting channel 5, which connector 44 points to the other side than the connector 33 for the drain opening 34.
- the closure body 24 has on its outer end face a recess 45, e.g. an internal hexagon, for the attachment of a suitable tool with which the closure body 24 is rotated and thus can be adjusted in the axial direction of the connecting channel 5.
- the shut-off valve 26 can thus be closed or this valve can be brought into intermediate positions, the closure body 24 forming a presetting body. This allows any presetting for the heating fluid to be supplied to the radiator.
- the closure body 24 with a central bore 46 forms a guide for an extension of the closure body 28 of the regulating and shut-off valve 29 which forms a spindle 47 and points outwards.
- this closure body 28 has an external thread which fits into a corresponding thread 48 behind the valve seat 30 can be screwed in.
- the spindle 47 carries a recess 49, for example an internal hexagon, for the attachment of a corresponding tool, for example a socket wrench.
- a recess 49 for example an internal hexagon
- the regulating and shut-off valve 29 can easily be brought into the open position (FIG. 2) or into any desired intermediate position.
- the throttle body 31 forms a more or less large throttling of the flow cross-section at the valve seat 30, depending on the set position, so that the throttling desired in each case can be set without problems.
- the arrangement of the nozzles 6, 7 according to FIGS. 1 to 4 corresponds to an embodiment for pipelines leading out of the floor.
- the axes of the nozzles 6, 7 are coaxial with those of the channels 3, 4 and at least substantially vertical, whereas the axis of the connecting channel 5 is horizontal.
- the two nozzles 6, 7 are designed as 90 ° elbows, both of which point in the same direction.
- two emptying openings 34 are provided, one for each of the two connecting pieces 10, 11 leading to the radiator.
- the second emptying opening which is not visible in FIG. 5, does not necessarily have to be arranged in the region of the horizontal connecting piece 44, but rather can also be provided directly on the connecting piece 10 pointing upward.
- Another possibility is to keep two different types of such an adapter fitting 1 in stock, of which one type has the emptying opening 34 as shown in FIG. 5, that is to say in the embodiment according to FIG. 1, whereas the other type has the valves 26 , 27, 29 and the emptying opening 34 has a mirror image offset with respect to the two connecting pieces 6, 7.
- the connecting piece 6 or 7 is formed at its lower end as a T-piece 51, which has two openings 52, 53 of a transverse bore 54 pointing forwards and backwards.
- the two transverse bores 54 of the two nozzles 6.7 lie parallel to each other.
- the respectively unused opening 53 is sealed off by a cap 55.
- FIG. 7 a variant to FIG. 6 consists in that a 90 ° elbow 56 is pivotally connected to the two connecting pieces 6, 7, which are expediently designed to be very short in this embodiment. This can e.g. happen by means of a thread 57, an annular seal 58 providing the necessary tightness.
- the two elbows 56 are rotated in the desired direction. In this way, just as in the embodiment according to FIG. 6, the length can be found with a single emptying opening 34.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an adapter fitting for the optional connection of a radiator provided with a radiator valve to the inlet and return pipe of a single-pipe or two-pipe heating system, with a housing in which two channels are provided, one of which is a connector for detachable connection of the inlet pipe with a connector for the detachable connection of the inlet opening of the radiator or a fitting leading to it, whereas the other channel connects a socket for the detachable connection of the return pipe with another socket for the detachable connection of the outlet opening of the radiator or an associated fitting, and in each of these channels, a shut-off valve is provided, and there is a connecting channel connecting the two channels, in which a regulating and shut-off valve is located, the two shut-off valves actuating one another and independently of the regulating and shut-off valve are cash.
Such adapter fittings are known (DE-A-3,934,837). The two shut-off valves serve to be able to shut off the radiator without obstructing the function of the system, be it because the room in which the radiator is located should not be heated, be it for the purpose of replacing the radiator or the like. Since there is a connecting channel between the two channels, this is also possible with a single-pipe heating system, since this connecting channel forms a bypass to the pipe network when the regulating and shut-off valve is open. With this valve it is not only possible to switch from one-pipe operation to two-pipe operation or vice versa, but also to adjust the heating water distribution between the radiator and bypass in single-pipe operation.
In the known construction mentioned, the two shut-off valves are designed as taps which can be actuated from the front of the fitting, ie as a rule the side of the radiator facing the space to be heated. This construction has the disadvantage that the shut-off valves are difficult to access when the valve - for what Reasons always - must be connected rotated by 180 °. It is also disadvantageous that when the connection between the fitting and the radiator is loosened, the water runs out of it, since the outflow opening for the heating medium from this radiator is generally arranged at a lower point thereof.
The invention has for its object to avoid these disadvantages and to improve a valve of the type described above so that the actuation of the shut-off valves is always possible and that there is a possibility for a controlled emptying of the radiator in any position of the same, without the operation the other radiators in the system. The invention solves this problem in that the two shut-off valves have rectilinearly adjustable closure bodies, that the adjustment directions of these closure bodies lie in a common plane spanned by the axes of the two connecting pieces to be connected to the heating element or its fitting, and that at least one of the connecting pieces leading to the radiator or its armature leads to the drainage opening that can be closed independently of the shut-off valves and the regulating and shut-off valve. In the sense of the invention, the two shut-off valves can thus be actuated from the two sides of the fitting, so that it does not matter in which position the fitting is connected to the pipes for the heating medium supply. The radiator can be emptied in a controlled manner by means of the emptying opening when the shut-off valves are closed; the water flowing out through this emptying opening can be easily collected with a suitable vessel or removed in another suitable manner. When installing the fitting or the radiator connected to it, it is only necessary to take care that an emptying opening is located on the side which is assigned to the lower-lying outflow opening from the radiator. Since a specific radiator arrangement is generally desired, this means that the presence of an emptying opening must take this wish into account. For pipelines emerging from the floor upwards, the invention offers the advantage that the fitting can be mounted in both possible positions, so that by selecting this position, the position of the emptying opening is adapted to the position of the outflow opening of the radiator. For pipelines emerging from the wall, the construction can easily be provided with a drain opening on each of the two nozzles, or two construction variants are provided, one of which has the drain opening on the left nozzle is connected, the other to the right.
For a non-generic device (US-A-4,469,131), it is known to arrange two valves in a housing which is essentially H-shaped, which regulate the inflow into two upwardly directed nozzles. However, these two valves cannot be operated independently of one another, since both closure bodies are placed on a common spindle. As a result, different adjustment positions of the closure bodies can be achieved, but not independently of one another, so that the mode of operation which can be achieved by the subject of the invention cannot be achieved with the known device.
In another non-generic device (US-A-4,129,149), a single connecting piece of the housing is provided for the connection of the radiator and the radiator valve is arranged in the housing of the adapter fitting. Such a device cannot be used in the sense of the invention.
According to a development of the invention, the axis of the emptying opening lies in the plane mentioned, which also makes this opening easily accessible in all possible positions of the fitting.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the arrangement is such that the axis of the drain opening is coaxial with the axis of the associated shut-off valve. This simplifies production and enables a space-saving and material-saving construction.
In the context of the invention, the two adjusting devices and the axis of the emptying opening are expediently coaxial, preferably horizontal. The horizontal, coaxial position makes it possible to maintain the familiar H-shaped basic shape of the valve, although in principle deviations from it would also be possible.
However, the invention also makes it possible to eliminate a further disadvantage of the known construction described at the outset. This disadvantage is that in a single-pipe heating system, the water swirls into the radiator even when the radiator valve is closed, thereby heating it more or less, even if the regulating and shut-off valve arranged in the connecting channel is fully open. To eliminate this disadvantage, the arrangement is such that the valve seat of at least one shut-off valve is arranged in a wall section lying normal to the associated adjustment direction of a wall penetrating the associated channel, which forms a deflection surface for the heating medium flowing from the associated pipeline , which directs this heating medium towards the connecting channel. This deflection of the heating medium favors the introduction of the heating medium into the connecting channel, so that, under the conditions described above, only insignificant or no heating medium components flow to the radiator. To maintain this advantage for the two possible mounting positions of the valve it is expedient to design both shut-off valves in the manner described.
A particularly expedient embodiment of the invention consists in designing at least one of the two closure bodies as a presetting body guided with threads in order to be able to combine the shut-off function with the presetting function. This advantage can be achieved in addition to the advantages described above without reducing the latter.
Further characteristics and advantages of the invention result from the description of exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention, which are shown schematically in the drawing. 1 shows a vertical section through the adapter fitting with the closure bodies in the open position and the closed regulating and shut-off valve. Fig. 2 shows an analog sectional view of the regulating and shut-off valve in the open position. Fig.3 is a section along the line III-III of Fig.2. Fig.4 shows the valve according to Fig.1 in the closed position of the two closure bodies. 5 shows a variant in the design of the housing. 6 and 7 each show a variant in the design of the nozzle for connection to the pipes of the supply system.
In the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 to 4, the
The two upward-facing ends of the
Each
The
The
At the same time, the
After removing the
The accessibility for the adjustment of all the
The arrangement of the
Such an embodiment in two types can be spared if, according to FIG. 6, the connecting
According to FIG. 7, a variant to FIG. 6 consists in that a 90 °
