Definitions
- the invention relates to a closure, in particular a bottle closure according to the preamble of claim 1.
- Bottles for storing liquids, especially beverages pose a possible danger for the consumer.
- Glass bottles can burst or shatter, injuring the user or third parties. This risk is independent of the filling level of the bottles for the consumer.
- the main reasons for the bursting of a bottle are an excessive internal pressure as a result of insufficient filling or crack damage in the hollow glass.
- Closures of glass or plastic bottles can also detonate explosively if the internal pressure of the bottle is too high and lead to injuries, in particular eye injuries to the consumer.
- the closure cap according to DE-A-29 02 859 consists of a plastic, the bending stiffness of which changes as a function of the temperature, so that when the temperature rises above room temperature, the bottom of the cap is penetrated by the increase in temperature can be bulged out.
- the elastically deformable zone is formed by an annular bending zone in the transition area between the cap jacket and the cap base. In the case of the above-mentioned bulging due to increased outside temperature, the sealing effect of the closure cap is canceled, so that an automatic pressure reduction in the interior of the bottle occurs. It is disadvantageous that this known system operates as a function of the outside temperature.
- the construction according to EP-A-0 464 384 provides a remedy, namely by means of a plurality of sealing lips formed on the cap base, which are assigned to the edge of the bottle opening.
- the disadvantage is that this construction allows sufficient security only with very precisely manufactured bottle openings. However, this requirement is not in line with today's bottle production, and it must also be borne in mind that when bottles are refilled, the bottle openings are very often damaged. In this case, the known construction would also be ineffective.
- Closure arrangements with closure membranes supported on the cap base are also known in order to achieve an increased sealing effect.
- the known construction does not allow automatic venting at increased pressure in the interior of the bottle.
- the situation is very similar in the construction according to EP-B-0 179 498.
- the closure according to DE-A-40 07 325 with closure membrane also does not allow the container or bottle to be vented automatically.
- the sealing membrane can only bulge into a cap cavity to compensate for higher gas pressures inside the container.
- a closure cap with a closure membrane which operates in the manner of a pressure relief valve. If there is overpressure in the product container, the closure membrane diverts into recesses formed on the circumference of the cap base and allows the gas in the container under overpressure to open its way out over the edge of the container opening. After the pressure has dropped, the sealing membrane resumes its original shape.
- the aforementioned recesses extend in the circumferential direction with the result that the return of the closure membrane in the sealing position depends essentially only on the restoring force of the closure membrane or its elasticity. A permanently tight closure of a beverage bottle cannot be achieved with this construction.
- the screw cap for bottles according to DE-A-38 39 351 also has a closure membrane which, in the event of inadmissible excess pressure in the bottle interior, diverts into a cavity formed between the closure membrane and the cap base.
- the resistance which the closure membrane has to overcome is set in such a way that the pressure exerted on the closure membrane is significantly below the pressure at which the bottle could explode.
- the present invention is based on the object of creating a safety closure, in particular a special surface closure, which allows a functionally reliable blowing or self-venting of the bottle with simple means, and to be sure, even if the edge of the bottle opening is either inaccurate or damaged, a tight closure being to be ensured again after venting.
- the system according to the invention is characterized by a double membrane arrangement.
- the elastically deformable cap base forms the outer membrane
- the closure membrane supported on the cap base forms the inner membrane.
- the inner sealing membrane is reset in the sealing position by the resilience of the cap base.
- Gap can be reduced to the outside.
- the elastically deformable cap base returns to its original flat starting position, taking the closure membrane supported on the cap base with it.
- the encircling, annular support rib is pivoted back into its starting position, - o -
- the support rib is preferably inclined radially inwards. Furthermore, the support rib is preferably tapered in cross-section in the direction of the closure membrane. The support rib thus has its own bending elasticity and acts as an interposed spring element. Furthermore, manufacturing tolerances in the area of the closure as well as in the area of the bottle opening can be well compensated.
- knobs, webs, ribs in particular circumferential ring-shaped ribs, on which the closure membrane is supported, are formed on the inside of the cap base.
- the aforementioned knobs, webs, ribs are located in the area within the circumferential, annular support rib which is assigned to the edge of the bottle opening.
- the above-mentioned knobs, webs and / or ribs are designed to be flexible and tapered conically in the direction of the closure membrane. Furthermore, like the outer circumferential support rib, they can be inclined radially inwards. In this way, the knobs arranged within the outer circumferential support rib and assigned to the edge of the bottle opening form Web and / or ribs also interposed spring elements.
- knobs, webs and / or ribs also reduce the friction between the cap base and the closure membrane to a minimum. Accordingly, the bulging or the resilient return of the cap base to its flat starting position does not hinder this friction.
- the support rib is offset from the cap base by a circumferential annular groove.
- a circumferential weak point is produced between the cap base and the aforementioned support rib, which promotes the bulging of the cap base in the manner described above.
- the desired function of the outer support rib assigned to the edge of the bottle opening is promoted by the fact that this lintel rib is effective over the radially inner half of the edge of the bottle opening.
- the aforementioned annular groove is preferably located between the outer support rib and the cap base at approximately the level of the inner boundary of the bottle opening.
- a circumferential undercut is also provided between the outer circumferential support rib assigned to the edge of the bottle opening and the cap jacket, which also contributes to the fact that the inside of the
- Bottle that can bulge out of the cap base together with the sealing membrane.
- the cap and closure membrane preferably consist of a common recyclable base material, in particular a combination of polyolefins.
- a common recyclable base material in particular a combination of polyolefins.
- the closure according to the invention can also be used to provide reusable glass or PET bottles with functional reliability
- FIG. 1 shows a bottle closure designed according to the invention in normal closed position, partly in view, partly in section;
- Fig. 2 shows the bottle cap of FIG. 1 with increased
- Fig. 3 shows part of the bottle closure according to FIG. 2 on an enlarged scale.
- FIG. 1 to 3 show a bottle closure with a plastic cap 11 which can be placed on a bottle neck 10, namely screwed on, and which comprises an originality securing ring 14 connected to the cap jacket 13 via a predetermined breaking point 12, which is placed in place the cap 11 engages behind a bead or the like formed on the bottle neck, not shown here, and with a closure membrane 16 supported on the cap base 15.
- the closure membrane 16 is in the area above the edge 17 of the bottle opening 18 via a circumferential, annular rib 19 supported.
- the rib 19 is an integral part of the cap base 15 and is designed such that when the cap base 15 bulges due to excess pressure inside the closed bottle (see FIG. 2), the closure membrane 16 is lifted from the edge 17 of the bottle opening 18 and thus - 3 -
- venting the bottle interior allows (see arrow 20 in Figs. 2 and 3).
- the encircling, annular support rib 19 is an integral part of the cap 11 and is offset from the cap base 15 by an encircling annular groove 21.
- the annular groove 21 is a deliberately produced weakening of the material, which promotes the bulging of the cap base 15 in the manner of a membrane according to FIG. 2.
- the circumferential annular groove 21 is designed in such a way that when the cap base 15 bulges out according to FIG. 2, the circumferential support rib 19 is taken radially inwards and upwards, with the result that the axial force exerted by the support rib 19 on the sealing membrane Preload is canceled.
- the closure membrane 16 can be lifted from the edge 17 of the bottle opening 18 according to FIGS. 1 and 3 (dash-dotted line), and gas from the inside of the bottle is then between the closure membrane and the Escape the edge 17 of the gap 18 forming the opening 18 to the outside (arrow 20).
- the circumferential, annular support rib 19 is inclined radially inwards. Furthermore, the support rib 19 is conically tapered in cross-section in the direction of the sealing membrane 16. These two measures, the bending elasticity of the support rib 19 is promoted, so that the support rib 19 an federela ⁇ ti ⁇ che ⁇ Zwi ⁇ chenelement zwi ⁇ chen cap 11 and Ver ⁇ chlü 'ßmembran or edge 17 of the Fla ⁇ chenö réelle 18 defines.
- This spring elasticity is particularly important when manufacturing tolerances have to be compensated both in the area of the cap 11 and in the area of the edge 17 of the bottle opening 18. This can also compensate for slight damage to the edge 17 of the bottle opening 18.
- the cap base 15 has further circumferential, annular ribs 22, 23 as well as a central projection 24 in the area within the circumferential support rib 19 assigned to the edge 17 of the bottle opening 18 and a central projection 24, all of which Support the sealing membrane 16 on the cap base 15.
- the circumferential support ribs 22, 23 arranged between the central projection 24 and the outer circumferential support rib 19 are designed in terms of inclination and cross-section in a manner similar to that of the outer circumferential support ribs 19 assigned to the edge 17 of the bottle opening 18 are also the support ribs 22, 23.
- They form, like the outer circumferential support rib 19, resilient intermediate elements between the cap base 15 and the closure membrane 16. Accordingly, the closure described is characterized by an outer membrane in the form of the cap base 15, an inner closure membrane 16 as well as spring elements 22, 23 and 19 arranged therebetween, which ensure an audible curvature of the cap base 15 and sealing membrane 16. put.
- the outer circumferential support rib 19 is preferably effective over the radially inner half of the rim 17 of the bottle opening 18.
- the edge of the support rib 19 contacting the closure membrane 16 migrates inward and upward when the cap bottom 15 bulges out in accordance with the dash-dotted representation in FIG. 3.
- the sealing membrane 16 is released from the upper side of the edge 17 of the bottle opening 18. This enables the bottle to be vented automatically. This result arises particularly quickly when the circumferential edge of the support rib 19 reaches a position in which it lies within the inner boundary 25 of the bottle neck 10, as shown in FIG. 3 by dash-dotted lines.
- the cap 11 and sealing membrane 16 preferably consist of a common recyclable base material, in particular a combination of polyolefins.
- the bending elasticity; and the resilience (resetting deformation) of the sealing membrane can be adjusted by the multilayer structure thereof.
- closure described here is suitable not only for bottles, in particular bottles for storing C0 2 -containing beverages, but also for other hollow containers, the filling of which can lead to excess pressure, so that blowing off of overpressure is necessary for safety reasons.
- the circumferential undercut between the outer support rib 19 assigned to the edge 17 of the bottle opening 18 and the cap jacket 13 is also important when lifting it from the top of the rim 17 of the bottle opening
