Claims (7)

1. Materials handling container including a cover pivoted on the body of the container on one of its longitudinal edges by a hinge formed towards the upper edge of the container, of the type in which the said cover (3) is divided into two parts (4, 5) pivotable relative to one another about a second hinge (6) parallel to the first hinge (9), forming respectively a rear part (4) pivotable about the said first hinge (9) on the said edge of the container, and a front part (5) pivotable about the said second hinge (6) on the said rear part (4) of the cover, characterised in that the said front part (5) includes, in the neighbourhood of the ends of the said second hinge (6), hooked portions (12) or the like which, in the folded back position of the cover, lock in recesses (13) correspondingly formed on the edge (14) of the container, the said front part (5) also including locking means known per se (21, 22) for locking the cover onto the container.

Container according to claim 1, characterised in that the said two portions of the cover include cooperating locking means of the snap- action type (15, 16) which permit locking of the said front part (5) against the said rear part (4) when the two upper faces of the said two parts are folded back one against the other.
3. Container according to claim 1 or claim 2, characterised in that the said rear part (4) of the cover is larger than the said front part (5), the said second hinge (6) being displaced towards the front of the container.
4. Container according to claim 2 or claim 3, characterised in that cooperating guide means (17, 20) projecting from and recessed into each part (4, 5) of the cover surround the said snap-action means (15,16).
5. Container according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the said containers, which are of substantially rectangular cross-section, the said rear part (4) of the said cover is pivotable along a large side of the container.
6. Container according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the said containers have, as is known per se, cross-sections which widen out towards the top which permit stacking in a nested position.
7. Container according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the said hinges (6, 9) are, as is known per se, of a tamper- proof type having a hinge-pin which cannot be removed axially from the exterior.
