- the punch and counter-punch can be moved towards one another along a horizontal axis, and the powdery material is poured into a space which is delimited by the end faces of the punch and counter-punch and a punch and counter-stem, and which can be displaced into the filling position. There are even smooth outer edges with burrs on their edges, which require particularly careful finishing and rounding.
- the press powder is carried on one side from above into the space just defined, it being practically inevitable that there is not always a uniform distribution of the press powder in the entire space between the opposing punch surfaces. This is the reason for a significant percentage of faulty compacts.

- the end face of the stamp 10 forms the top of the plate and is covered with a thick elastic rubber plate 19, which has a self-cleaning effect and protrudes in a ring near the edge, as can be seen at 20. This results in a rounded edge on the compacts, which requires little or no reworking.
- the end face of the counter-punch 11 is shaped corresponding to the underside of the plate in the illustrated embodiment and has a strong bevel towards the cylindrical surface. It is also covered with an elastic rubber plate 22.
- the circular edge of the plate is bent at an acute angle and has an everted edge, which is held between a frustoconical block 23 and a ring 24, which are connected to a counter block 25 by screws.
- the block 23 is provided in its central part with a plurality of lines which establish the connection between the end face of the block 23 and a chamber 26 into which pressure medium is introduced.
- the plate 22 detaches from the block 23 and presses against the pre-compressed ceramic powder mass, as a result of which the pressing process is ended hydrostatically.
