Abstract

Very pure magnesium sulphates are prepared from hard salts by a process in which a magnesium sulphate monohydrate of high purity is first obtained electrostatically in a limited amount. From the residual material and dusts collected and with co-use of the conditioning agents derived from the preceding steps, an MgSO4 concentrate of relatively low purity is obtained in a further step and is converted by wet chemical routes to a magnesium sulphate heptahydrate of high purity.
