C. BERNHARDT in LÜBECK. Drehvorrichtung für Windmühlenkappen.C. BERNHARDT in LÜBECK. Rotating device for windmill caps.
Patentirt im Deutschen Reiche vom 18. December 1879 ab.Patented in the German Empire on December 18, 1879.
The wind rose A, Fig. I, which revolves when the wind direction changes, transmits its force by means of a chain b, Fig. 3 and 4, to a double gear reduction r, which slows down the movement, the last shaft η of which carries a forged chain disk ο. The teeth of this chain pulley engage in the links of an endless chain k, which is folded around the fixed crown ring p bearing the cap, supported by a bar running around it and prevented from moving by a few protruding teeth ζ. Two tensioning rollers C 1 C 11 , Fig. 2, 5 and 6, mounted on the ends of a bracket g swinging around the pin i , cause the chain to be properly inserted into the disk, in that the drawn chain end k strives to move in a straight line to unclamp, the roller C 1 outwards and thus pushes C 11 inwards, whereby the loose end of the chain experiences a more or less strong tension. The degree of tension depends on the irregularity in the outer shape of the crown ring and can be regulated by moving the bolt i in the radial slot m, FIG. 4. Now that the chain k with the fixed mill building, the chain pulley 0 but standing with her Hülfsmechanismen with the mill cap in fixed connection, so must, in each rotation of the chain wheel one of the peripheral speed ο same corresponding rotation of the mill cap effected.
In this construction, instead of the usual one, it is firmly bolted to the crown ring Toothed ring, out of consideration for easy attachment to old mills, a chain applied.
