Spray arm storage for front loading dishwashers.

The invention relates to a spray arm bearing for front-loading dishwashers with at least one dish basket that can be moved forwards out of the machine and with at least one spray arm that is rotatably arranged under the dish basket, which has spray nozzles directed towards the dish basket and is mounted on a liquid supply line that extends from a wall of the machine and is connected to a circulation pump.

In a known spray arm bearing of this type (DE-AS 16 28 501), the base of an upper dish basket forms a sideways inclined plane and immediately below this base a rotating spray arm is arranged in a plane parallel to the inclined basket base plane. This rotating spray arm has spray nozzles directed upwards towards the upper basket and is mechanically supported independently of the upper dish basket on a support arm extending from a wall of the machine, which also forms the liquid supply line.

From DE-AS 16 28 5Oi, an arrangement is also known in which the spray arm is mounted on the bottom of the upper dish rack and the liquid supply line to the spray arm has a plug-in coupling arranged near the housing wall that is effective in the direction of movement of the dish rack, so that a supply line section arranged on the dish rack can be separated from the supply line on the housing wall. Since there is a risk of undesirable dishwashing liquid leaking out in the area of the plug-in coupling, this design requires a higher manufacturing effort.

Finally, a dishwasher with at least two dish baskets that can be pushed into the dishwashing compartment is known (DE-OS 14 28 357), under each of which a spray arm that rotates during operation is provided, with the upper dish basket having a vertically arranged connecting pipe approximately in the middle of its loading area, at the lower end of which, below the dish basket, a spray arm that rotates during operation is arranged and whose upper opening is located a short distance below a rinse water supply line. Water and pressure losses occur due to the free flow path between the supply line and the connecting pipe. In addition, the additional connecting pipe for the water supply to the spray arm reduces the loading area of the dish basket.

The object of the invention is to create a spray arm bearing of the type mentioned at the beginning, which, with a simple structure, enables a virtually loss-free supply of liquid to the spray arm, does not impair the loading area of the dish basket and is characterized by good bearing properties and low susceptibility to failure.

This object is achieved according to the invention in that the section of the liquid supply line which extends approximately horizontally below the bottom of the crockery basket into the washing container ends in a 90° bend with a downward-facing outlet nozzle, that a bearing sleeve fastened in the spray arm inlet opening against the spray arm can be inserted into the outlet nozzle of the bend up to a stop and that the spray arm is mounted so that it can rotate against the bend in a hanging arrangement and with axial sealing by means of a nut which supports the bearing sleeve and is screwed against the bend outlet nozzle.

If the spray arm and thus the suspended spray arm bearing are subjected to the rinsing liquid, the axial plain bearing seal is loaded in the axial direction by the weight of the spray arm, the rinsing liquid and the reaction force of the spray jets and is sealed almost loss-free. If food residues get into the axial bearing due to special circumstances, they lift the axial bearing and can be damaged.

Since there is almost no water and pressure loss, the dishwasher can be operated without problems with relatively small amounts of washing liquid. The closed water supply to the spray arm can be implemented without sealing problems, and the supply line can also be laid inside the washing container. The supply line, the bearing and the spray arm do not take up any loading space in the dish basket and do not require any special structural design of the basket.
