In einem die directe Heizfläche des Dampfkessels berührenden, mit Wasser oder einer anderen Flüssigkeit gefüllten, hohlen Körper b und in einem eben solchen, jedoch im Dampfraume befindlichen Körper α bewegen sich durch Stopfbüchsen die Kolben c und d, welche durch Zugstangen mit dem gleicharmigen Hebel e verbunden sind. Die Volumina beider Körper und die Querschnitte beider Kolben sind genau dieselben. Ist die Wärmezuführung bei beiden Körpern α und b dieselbe, so dreht sich der Hebel nicht, sondern es bewegt sich nur der Drehpunkt desselben in die Höhe.
