Abstract

In the production of a pressure or suction chest (3) for a blowing or suction roller (1) with a rotatable, perforated casing (2), where the chest is connected with a source of elevated or reduced pressure (to be applied to the casing) and has sealing strip(s) (4) with a sealing surface (7) on or at a specific spacing from the casing, the sealing surface and/or the strip supporting surface (4) is formed with convex and/or concave curvature along the longitudinal axis of the chest. A method is claimed for producing a pressure or suction chest (3) for a blowing or suction roller (1) with a rotatable, perforated casing (2). The chest is connected with a source of elevated or reduced pressure (to be applied to the interior surface of the casing) and has sealing strip(s) (4) with a sealing surface (7) located on or at a specific spacing from the casing. The novel feature is that the sealing surface, and/or the supporting surface (4) on which the strip is at least indirectly supported during operation of the roller, is produced with convex and/or concave curvature along the longitudinal axis of the chest. An independent claim is included for the pressure or suction chest having a curved sealing surface and/or supporting surface as above.
