Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren sowia Vorrichtung zum stellenweisen Versehen eines Papierstreifens mit Belag für die Herstellung von Mundstückzigaretten bei Strangzigarettenmaschinen. Es ist bekannt, das Belagmaterial durch einen Hilfsstreifen zu fördern, mittels absatzweise bewegter Walzen von der Vorratsrolle abzuziehen, Schneidemessern zuzuführen und durch einen rotierenden Saugkörper an den Zigarettenpapierstreifen anzupressen. Der Hilfsstreifen wurde hierbei durch einen Spalt im feststehenden Messer abgeführt. Hiermit war jedoch der Nachteil verbunden, daß der Belag selbst nicht bis an die eigentliche Schnittstelle vom Hilfsstreifen begleitet wurde.
