Abstract

The invention relates to an orientation aid for blind persons, in which orientation at unknown locations is facilitated for the blind person. This is achieved by means of a conventional ultrasonic transducer which transmits ultrasonic tones and waits for the echo. If there is a change in the time which the ultrasonic tone requires, the device warns the blind person of an obstacle.

Description

The invention relates to an orientation aid for the blind. As far as I know, orientation aids for the blind are only available expensive, unwieldy devices known to be like glasses are wearing. For most blind people, these devices are not essential affordable and not very practical.

The object of the present invention is therefore an orientation to provide assistance for the blind, despite the simpler and more compact Construction offers an optimum of reliability. In addition, the said orientation aid inexpensive to manufacture and aesthetic be designed appealingly.

This object is achieved in the characterizing part of claims 1-7 specified features solved.

Es zeigtThe invention will now be described in two ways play explained. It shows

Fig. 1 is a schematic representation of the version of the orientation aid to be carried in the hand.

Fig. 2 shows the schematic representation of the version in which the evaluation unit is worn separately from the ultrasound transducer, concealed on the belt or another item of clothing.

As shown in Fig. 1, all parts necessary for use are housed in a housing ( 1 ). The ultrasound transducer emits ultrasound waves and receives their echo. The evaluation electronics ( 3 ) control the transmission of the waves and measure the time that elapses between the transmission of the signal and the reception of the echo. As a result, the circuit detects objects that are within the range of the sound waves. If an object is noticed, it is communicated to the blind person via the sound generator ( 4 ) or the tone generator ( 5 ). The orientation aid is fed by a built-in accumulator that can be charged from the outside through the charging socket ( 7 ).

Fig. 2 shows the version in which the blind person only has to carry the ultrasound transducer in his hand and can carry the other parts on his belt, on another piece of clothing or in a bag.

Die Erfindung funktioniert folgendermaßen:The invention works as follows:

In the orientation aid for blind people according to Examples 1 and 2, ultrasonic waves are emitted by an ultrasonic transducer ( 2 ) and the echo that arises when the waves are thrown back by an object is collected again. The delay can determine whether an object is in the way or not. This information is transmitted to the blind person by means of acoustic signals. Instead of the acoustic signals, a small vibrator could also be attached to the skin. The housing can also be designed ergonomically, which makes it easier to hold.
