Description
Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zum Schweißen von thermoplastischem Material und
insbesondere zum Verschweißen von thermoplastischen Bahnen gemäß Oberbegriff des Hauptanspruchs.
Die Überlappungsschweißung von thermoplastischen Bahnen
oder Streifen, bei der übereinanderliegende Ränder oder -J0 aufeinanderliegende Flächen verschweißt werden, erfolgt
im allgemeinen in folgender Weise:
a) Die Flächen werden auf eine höhere Temperatur als die Schmelztemperatur durch einen beheizten Metallic
keil erwärmt, der über diese bewegt wird. Die geschmolzenen Flächen werden dann solange zusammengepreßt,
bis das Material sich wieder unter den Schmelzpunkt abgekühlt und dadurch verfestigt hat.
b) Die Flächen werden mittels eines Vorwärmers auf eine Temperatur erwärmt, die üblicherweise unterhalb des
Schmelzpunktes liegt. Um ein für das Schweißen richtiges Schmelzen der Bahnen zu gewährleisten, wird anschließend
zusätzliche Wärme zugeführt, indem weiteres geschmolzenes thermoplastisches Material in hinreichender
Menge bei ausreichender Temperatur züge-

setzt wird, um das Schmelzen der zu verbindenden Bahnflächen sicherzustellen. Die Flächen werden dann
aneinandergepreßt, so daß das Schweißen bei der Abkühlung unter den Schmelzpunkt erfolgt.
Bei dem bekannten Verfahren wird die Wärme für das Schmelzen und/oder für die Vorwärmung auf die folgenden
bekannten Weisen zugeführt:
-IO i) Es wird ein heißer Metallkeil verwendet, dem Wärme
durch Leitung zugeführt wird. Die Wärmequelle ist üblicherweise ein elektrisches Bauteil, eine
Flamme oder ein heißer Gasstrom.
•^5 ii) Die Erwärmung erfolgt mit Hilfe eines heißen
Gas- bzw. Luftstrahls, der üblicherweise durch ein elektrisches Bauteil oder durch eine Flamme
erwärmt wird.
iii) Es wird die Wärme durch Strahlung übertragen, und zwar üblicherweise im Infrarotbereich, es
sind jedoch auch andere Wellenlängen bekannt.
Um eine konstante Schweißtemperatur in den Fällen (ii)
und (iii) zu gewährleisten, ist es erforderlich, die Temperatur der zu verschweißenden thermoplastischen
Bahnen zu messen und die Wärmezufuhr im Sinne eines Ausgleichs von Temperaturschwankungen zu regeln. Temperaturmessungen nehmen jedoch keine Rücksicht auf andere
Faktoren, beispielsweise auf auf den Bahnen verbliebene Feuchtigkeit, die zusätzliche Wärme zur Verdampfung erfordert,
wodurch die Oberflächentemperatur geringer als erforderlich ist.
Um eine konstante Schweißtemperatur in Fällen zu gewährleisten,
in denen der heiße Keil die Bahnen berührt,
was für die Fälle (a) und (i) zutrifft, reicht es aus,
die Temperatur des Keils so nahe wie möglich an der
Arbeitsfläche des Keils zu messen und Temperaturschwankungen
durch Regelung der Wärmezufuhr auszugleichen. Da diese Wärmezufuhr jedoch nicht schlagartig erfolgen
kann, entsteht eine Zeitverzögerung, die zu ungleichmäßigen Schweißungen führen kann.
Eine weitere Schwierigkeit bei dem bekannten Schweiß-/ Verbindungsverfahren (a) tritt dann auf, wenn die Naht
sowohl mechanisch gesund als auch dicht sein muß. Wenn die Ränder der zu verbindenden Bahnen nicht absolut
eben sind, bilden sich kleine Materialfalten vor dem
Schweißkeil. Diese Falten laufen gelegentlich über den Schweißkeil und verbleiben unverschweißt, so daß ein
Fluidkanal entsteht.
Es ist demgegenüber Aufgabe der Erfindung, ein verbessertes
Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zum Verschweißen von thermoplastischem Bahnmaterial zu schaffen, welche
die beim Stand der Technik auftretenden Nachteile nicht aufweisen.
Zur Lösung dieser Aufgabe dienen die im Kennzeichen des Hauptanspruchs angegebenen Maßnahmen.
-^q Die Erfindung betrifft somit ein Verfahren zum Verschweissen
von thermoplastischem Bahnmaterial, welches dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, daß zwei zu verschweißende
Bahnen mit ihren Rändern übereinander gelegt werden, daß ein heißer Keil zwischen die einander überlappenden
-I5 Ränder zur Berührung der benachbarten Flächen der beiden
Bahnen geschoben und auf eine Temperatur erwärmt wird, die hoch genug ist, um beide Flächen zu schmelzen,
daß geschmolzenes thermoplastisches Material zwischen die übereinanderliegenden Ränder eingebracht
wird, und daß die übereinanderliegenden Ränder zusammengepreßt und abgekühlt werden, wodurch sich die Flächen
durch das thermoplastische Material der Bahnen vollständig miteinander verbinden und jegliche Zwischenräume
oder Falten von dem zusätzlich eingebrachten thermoplastischen Material ausgefüllt werden.
Das zusätzliche thermoplastische Material wird vorzugsweise zwischen die überlappenden Ränder an einer Stelle
eingebracht, die nahe den vom heißen Keil angeschmolzenen Flächen liegt.
Vorzugsweise dient ein heißer Keil zum Verschweißen von
übereinanderliegenden Rändern von thermoplastischen Bahnen,
welcher aus einem hierfür geeigneten Material besteht und der mittels einer regelbaren Induktionsspule
^0 oder einer ähnlichen Einrichtung erwärmbar ist.
Insbesondere weist der heiße Keil eine Widerstandshei^
zung sowie Einrichtungen auf, um einen großen Strom von geringer Spannung in den Keil einzuleiten.
Ferner ist in einer bevorzugten Ausführung ein Temperaturfühler vorgesehen, der zur Steuerung der Heizeinrichtung
für den Keil dient.
Es ist somit ein neuartiges Verfahren zum Verschweißen
von übereinanderliegenden Rändern von thermoplastischen Bahnen geschaffen, das mittels eines heißen Keils, dessen
Temperatur auf leichte und genaue Weise regelbar ist, sehr gute und wasserdichte Nähte erzeugt.
Die .Erfindung wird im folgenden anhand von drei Ausführungsbeispielen
näher erläutert. In den Figuren zeigen:
Figur 1 eine schematische Ansicht eines ersten Ausführungsbeispiels,
bei dem übereinander liegende Bahnen von thermoplastischem Material durch
einen Keil verbunden werden;
Figur 2 ein zweites Ausführungsbeispiel;
Figur 3 ein drittes Ausführungsbeispiel, bei dem zu
sätzliches thermoplastisches Material einge
bracht wird; und
sätzliches thermoplastisches Material einge
bracht wird; und
Figur 4 ein viertes Ausführungsbeispiel.
Figur 1 zeigt ein erstes Ausführungsbeispiel, bei dem
benachbarte Flächen 1 und 2 von übereinanderliegenden
Rändern 3 und 4 von zwei Bahnen thermoplastischen Materials mittels eines heißen Keils 5 miteinander verbunden
werden. Der heiße Keil 5 wird durch eine extern angeordnete Induktionspule 6 erwärmt.
Der heiße Keil 5 wird zwischen den Flächen 1 und 2 in Richtung des Pfeils X bewegt. Während er in dieser Richtung
bewegt wird, schmilzt er die Flächen 1 und 2, die
dann mittels einer Walze 7 aneinandergedrückt werden.
Auf diese Weise wird das geschmolzene Material der Flachen 1 und 2 miteinander in Berührung gebracht und verfestigt
sich beim Abkühlen der Bahnen unter den Schmelzpunkt, wodurch die Bahnen miteinander verschweißen.
Zur Steuerung der Temperatur des heißen Keils 5 dient
ein Temperaturfühler 8, der so nahe wie möglich an der
Spitze 9 des Keils 5 untergebracht ist. Dieser Tempera-.JQ
turfühler 8 ist an eine nicht dargestellte Steuerung
angeschlossen, welche die den heißen Keil 5 erwärmende Induktionsspule 6 regelt. ■
Figur 2 zeigt ein zweites Ausführungsbeispiel, bei dem
^c zwei Bahnen von thermoplastischem Material auf die
gleiche Weise wie beim ersten Ausführungsbeispiel miteinander
verbunden werden, es wird jedoch eine andere Art Keil 10 verwendet. Der heiße Keil 10 hat die Form
einer Hülle 11 aus geeignetem Widerstandsmaterial. Diese
Hülle 11 ist mit ihren Enden 12 und 13 an elektrische Leitungen 14 und 15 angeschlossen. Über diese
Leitungen 14 und 15 wird ein hoher Strom von geringer Spannung eingeleitet, wodurch der heiße Keil 10 auf
eine gewünschte, zum Schweißen geeignete Temperatur erwärmt wird.
Wie bei der vorhergehenden Ausführung ist ein Temperaturfühler
16 in der Nähe der Spitze 17 des Keils 11 angeordnet. Der Temperaturfühler 16 regelt den durch
den Keil 11 fließenden Strom in bekannter Weise und steuert damit die Temperatur des heißen Keils 10.
Bei den zuvor erwähnten Ausführungen kann jeweils eine geringe Menge von zusätzlichem geschmolzenen thermoplastischen
Material zwischen die Flächen 1 und 2 nach -J0 deren Anschmelzen durch die Keile 5 bzw. 10, jedoch vor
dem Anpressen durch die Walze 7 eingebracht werden. Hierzu dient beispielsweise eine Düse 18, die in der
Nähe der Spitze 19 eines in Figur 3 dargestellten Keils 20 angeordnet ist.
Während die Walze 7 die zwei Bahnen aneinander preßt, gelangen deren geschmolzene Flächen 1 und 2 miteinander
in Berührung . Das zusätzliche geschmolzene thermoplastische Material sammelt sich in gegebenenfalls entstandenen
Freiräurnen oder Falten, in denen die zwei Flächen 1 und 2 nicht miteinander verschweißt sind und
sichert dadurch eint fehlerfrei, vollständig geschlossene Schweißnaht.
Eine Ursache für derartige Falten, die zu Lecks in der Schweißnaht führen können, ist in Figur 3 gezeigt.
Während sich die beiden Bahnen unter der Walze 7 bewegen,
bildet sich häufig eine kleine Materialwelle in einen der Bahnen vor der Walze 7. Diese Wellen laufen
manchmal unten der Walze 7 durch und bilden eine FaI-te
21. Das zusätzliche Material 22 sammelt sich jedoch in solchen Falten 21 und verschließt diese auf .die
zuvor beschriebene Weise.
Ein weiteres Ausführungsbeispiel der Erfindung ist in
-JO Figur 4 dargestellt. Hierbei wird anstelle des Einbringens
von zusätzlichem thermoplastischen Material in den Bereich zwischen der Keilspitze und der Anpreßwalze
dieses Material seitlich dazu eingebracht. Während die Walze 7 die Flächen 1 und 2 aneinanderpreßt, sammelt
sich das zusätzliche thermoplastische· Material in Form
einer Naht 23 neben den verschweißten Flächen und versiegelt damit jegliche Lecks oder Zwischenräume, die
gegebenenfalls entstanden sind. Dabei wird die Wärme
des zusätzlichen geschmolzenen Materials zum Schmelzen der Flächen 1 und 2 herangezogen und bewirkt somit ein
ähnliches Verschweissen wie bei den anderen Ausführungsbeispielen.

Claims (5)
1.)Verfahren zum Verschweißen von thermoplastischem Bahnmaterial, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
- daß zwei zu verschweißende Bahnen mit ihren Rändern (3,4) übereinander gelegt werden,
- daß ein heißer Keil (8,20) zwischen die einander überlappenden Ränder (3,4) zur Berührung der benachbarten
Flächen (1,2) der beiden Bahnen geschoben und auf eine Temperatur erwärmt wird, die hoch
genug ist, um beide Flächen (1,2) zu schmelzen,

- daß geschmolzenes thermoplastisches Material zwischen die Ubereinliegenden Ränder (3,4) eingebracht
wird,
- und daß die übereinanderliegenden Ränder (3,4) zusammengepreßt
und abgekühlt werden, wodurch sich
die Flächen (1,2) durch das thermoplastische Material der Bahnen vollständig miteinander verbinden
und jegliche Zwischenräume oder Falten von dem zusätzlich eingebrachten thermoplastischen Mate-
-JO rial ausgefüllt werden.
2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß das zusätzliche thermoplastische Material in dem vom heißen Keil (8,10,20) geschmolzenen Teil der Flä-
chen (1,2) eingebracht wird. .
3. Keil zum Verschweißen von übereinanderliegenden Rändern von thermoplastischen Bahnen, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß der Keil (8,10,20) durch eine Induktionsspule (6) beheizbar ist, daß Einrichtungen zur
Regelung der Induktionsspule (6) vorgesehen sind, und daß Einrichtungen vorgesehen sind, um einen starken
Strom geringer Spannung in dem Keil (8,10,20) fließen zu lassen.
4. Keil nach Anspruch 3, gekennzeichnet durch einen Temperaturfühler
(8) zur Steuerung der Heizeinrichtung (8,10,20).
5. Keil nach Anspruch 3 oder 4, gekennzeichnet durch
Einrichtungen (18,19) zur Einbringung von zusätzlichem geschmolzenem Kunststoff zwischen die übereinanderliegenden
Ränder (3,4) nach dem Vorbeilaufen des heißen Keils (8,10,20), und durch Einrichtungen
zum Aneinanderpressen der übereinanderliegenden Ränder (3,4) nach der Einbringung des geschmolzenen
Kunststoffs.
