Abstract

The chain drive is for use in a dirty environment, or for use in rough terrain without protection. It has a wide spacing between the chain links and the drive teeth, and the sprocket holes between the teeth are deepended to prevent any collected dirt from fouling the chain. The sprocket wheel is narrow w.r.t. the width of the chain with the thrust on the chain providing a self centering action. The drive operates at a set ratio, without danger of dirt layers causing the chain to ride up over the retaining flanges.

Description

Re: Patent application with utility model auxiliary application for sprocket for chain drives and tracked vehicles working in dirt The invention relates to a sprocket for chain drives that work in dirt and mud.

The known chain wheels are designed so that the chain bushes come to rest in the grooves of the drive wheels. Are those sprockets running with their chains now in dirt and mud, so that the dirt is between the The chain sockets and toothed hollows of the sprockets are changed by the Protective layer of the root diameter of the drive wheel and thus also the pitch circle diameter, which means that the pitch of the chain is smaller than the pitch of the sprocket.

This change in the division of the sprocket causes the chain to rise in the sprocket, is thereby unnecessarily heavily loaded with the result of a higher Wear and tear and a possible chain break.

II + III.With some chain drives, not only the chain force is increased by the Transfer the drive wheel in the pulling direction, Fig. I, but also - especially with tracked vehicles -the bearing weight of the machine is transferred from the chain bushing to the sprocket, Fig. II + III.

The chain wheel, Fig. I, for the chain drives has only the task of to pull the chain. The task of the chain wheel for Eettenfahrzeuge, Fig. II + III, is to pull the chain and carry the vehicle.

The invention is now characterized in that attempts on chain drives have shown that the chain is attached to a sprocket in which the tooth muide is so formed is that the chain bushing does not come to rest in the middle of the Eettenrad, in particular runs better in dirt than a sprocket with the chain bushing in the tooth recess rests towards the center of the wheel. In the case of sprockets where 'between the chain bush and there is a lot of space in the lower tooth recess, the chain bushing lies down - due to the Chain pitch - only on the tooth flank of the sprocket, i.e. the chain bushing has only one contact surface, that is the tooth flank, and not two like the tooth flank and the lower tooth cavity.

Namely, the lower tooth recess after penetrating dirt increased towards the outside, the chain bushing is widened by the existing dirt relocated to the outside, that means, the pitch circle diameter is enlarged and the Process between chain and sprocket is disturbed.

By the measure, the gettenmulde of a chain wheel to the chain wheel center to relocate so that as much tuft as possible between the chain bushing and the Zannmulde prevents the build-up of dirt and thus the chain from climbing up to the next tooth, which overloads the chain and the entire drive would mean.
