Description

The innovation concerns a shelf according to the generic term of the main claim.

Shelves that fix shelves between upright bars using threaded rods are well known and in use, but only as small individual pieces of furniture or tables. These usually consist of upright bars with screwed-in sockets with external and internal threads, which are connected via threaded rods either directly to the shelf, which also has a corresponding socket, or through a hole to the bar above. These connections are very stable and load-bearing, and are also not visible from the outside.

The innovation is to extend a shelf as mentioned at the beginning

and by using defined grid lengths of the upright bars (1), by positioning the bars (1) exactly flush with the corner of the shelf (2)

and through the presence of grooves in the upright bars (1.1) as well as the shelves (2.1), to create a system

which can be adjusted as required by the operator by inserting side walls (3 and 6) and rear walls (4 and 7)

and screwing on doors (12) can easily be designed to form a wall unit.

Thus, the shelf not only serves as storage space but also for the presentation of e.g.

Goods, as phono furniture, as room dividers, as individual pieces of furniture, as furniture walls and even as complete office furnishings.

The aim of the innovation is to create a shelf that is easy to manufacture and assemble and is highly stable, which is characterized by its beautiful shape, clear conception, easy variation and the ability to be set up anywhere.

The upright rods (1), which can have a round, square or rectangular cross-section, are screwed together via a short threaded rod (11).

that the grooves of the bars (1.1) and the grooves of the shelves (2.1) are aligned

(Section A - A). A clamping force acting on the shelf (2) ensures the extremely high stability of the connection.

The thickness of the shelf (d) must be matched to the grid lengths of the upright bars (1), since with e.g. 2 or 3 short bars (1) minus the shelves (d) in between, the same height must be achieved as a long bar (1), so that the same height is always guaranteed (Fig. 3). Fig. 2 shows upright bars with grid lengths matched to the thickness (d = 3 cm) of the shelf (2). For example, a bar (1) with a length of 36 cm on one side results in the sum of the bar length 16.5 cm and the shelf thickness (d) 3 cm and bar length 16.5 or the sum of 3 x 10 cm bar length and 2 x shelf thickness (d) on the other side.
Mathematically speaking, this represents a series, whereby from a production point of view, emphasis was placed on lengths that are as whole numbers as possible or up to a maximum of 2 decimal places (minimal adjustability of the machines) and on certain grid dimensions or the realization of heights used in the furniture sector, e.g. file folder height and table top edge (approx. 76 cm).

When assembling the shelf, the person installing the shelf has the option of inserting the side walls (3) and rear walls (4) into the grooves of the upright bars (1.1) and the shelf (2.1). These parts are slightly thinner than the grooves of the upright bars (l.l) and the shelf (2.1) to allow them to be pushed in easily. Any dimensionally stable and torsion-resistant material can be used for this, e.g. hardboard, glass, sheet metal. The side walls (3) and rear walls (4) therefore have no load-bearing function. They (3/4/12) are used to create a closed cabinet element. The fittings for the doors are fixed with wood screws in the grooves of the upright bars (1.1). Commercially available glass door hinges with clamping are used.

The drawer side walls (6) and the drawer rear walls (7) are folded in such a way that the protrusions can be inserted precisely into the grooves of the upright bars (1.1) and the shelf (2.1) (section B - B). The drawers (13) are adapted to the resulting cavity with a clearance of a few millimeters. The drawer side walls (6) thus serve as strips in the conventional sense, the shelves (2) as runners and the drawer rear walls (7) as stop blocks.

The top shelf of each row of shelves is fixed and closed in this way with sleeve nuts (5) which are connected to the bars below (1) via short threaded rods (11).

A strip that has the dimensions of the grooves of the upright bars (1.1) or the shelf (2.1) is inserted into the groove on the front view in order to make the continuous groove (consisting of 1.1 and 2.1) disappear and to provide another optical design feature.

A wooden spacer (9) that has the same thickness as the shelf (d) can be used as a compensating piece if required. It has the same cross-section as the upright bars (1) and is grooved on all 4 sides.

Protection claims 1. Shelving system, consisting of coordinated bars (1) and shelves (2) in between, as well as side walls (3/6), rear walls (4/7), doors (12) and drawers (13), which
is characterized by that at least 2, but usually 4, upright rods (1) support a shelf (2) and are connected to the rods (1) above via short threaded rods (11) and thus clamp the shelf (2) between them and that the upright bars (1) have defined lengths so that the shelving system can be extended upwards, to the left, to the right and to any angle around the corner and furthermore that the shelves (2) have a groove (2.1) on each side of a corner of the narrow surfaces, which has the same width and depth as that of the upright bars (1) and that the corners of the shelf (2) have the exact geometric shape as the upright bars (1) and that the upright bars (1) have grooves (1.1) and are inserted into the side walls (3/6) and rear walls (4/7) and the fittings of the doors (12) are fixed in them with screws. 2. characterized, that the upright bars (1) have 4 grooves in the longitudinal direction (1.1), which are offset by 90 degrees from each other and that the upright bars (1) each have a hole (1.2) on the end grain sides into which a sleeve with an external and internal thread (10) is screwed and that the upright bars (1) are positioned so that they are flush with the corners of the shelf (2). 3.
