Abstract

The board (1) is made of an enamel coated steel panel and fixed to a frame (2,3) by insertion of its edges into grooves (11). The panel (1) is slightly elastic and bent into a convex shape. A transparent cover is attached to the front facilitating the insertion of ruled or otherwise prepared sheets between panel (1) and cover. Drawers (6) for the accommodation of chalks, markers, etc. (8) are integrated in the side areas (4,5). To avoid unwanted noise caused by writing or drawing on the surface, the back of the steel sheet (1) can be provided with a noise absorbing coating (10).

The present invention relates to a wall panel with a curved surface made of sheet steel, which is provided with a white coated, preferably white enamelled surface.

EP-A 0692392 discloses a wall panel with a concave surface. This deformation is achieved either by using specially designed wall brackets or by bending over a suitably shaped frame. In both cases, the sheet steel panel must be connected to another panel, preferably glued, to ensure a secure connection to the wall brackets. This type of connection makes the panel expensive to manufacture and it is not easy for the user to attach such a panel to a wall, as not only do two supports have to be attached to a wall, but they also have to be attached at a precise distance from each other.

US Patent 2,838,853 discloses a chalkboard with a curved writing surface in which the concave deformation is carried out vertically. The bending radius can be influenced by changing the distance between the upper and lower bars. The board is first inserted into a groove in the lower bar and then pressed into the upper bar. To prevent the board from slipping out again, it is fixed by a cover bar screwed to the upper bar. In addition, the curved board is secured by a rope stretched between the upper and lower bars.

The solution proposed in this US patent is complex and expensive. The support frame must also be very carefully aligned and attached to a wall in order to avoid distortions in the surface.

The object of the invention is to provide a board with a curved surface which is simple to manufacture and easy to attach to a wall.

This task is solved by giving the panel a convex shape and inserting it into appropriately designed grooves in a frame by utilizing the restoring force of the material.

Further design features are described in the subclaims.

A panel according to the invention comprises a rectangular panel surface which is surrounded by a protective frame. The curved panel is inserted into the grooves provided in this frame, whereby the upper -Q:\SchuHer\Aktennzef\Hebel\98Ot 0\930J tKJ3.doc*

and the lower frame is placed on the board and then the side panels follow.
To prevent the panel from rattling in the frame, the sheet metal plate is inserted into the grooves under pre-tension, i.e. the sheet metal plate is held clamped in the grooves by the restoring force.

Of course, other types of fastening are also conceivable. For example, the board could also be held in place by clamps that are adapted to the board's radius of curvature.

To prevent unpleasant noises when writing on the board, the back of the board can be coated with an anti-noise agent or covered with another insulating material.
It is also noticeable that there are drawers in the side panels in which accessories such as pens, cleaning cloths, etc. can be stored. This means that all the necessary tools are always within reach.

In a further embodiment of the invention - not shown in the figures - it is also conceivable to provide a plate made of transparent plastic in front of the sheet steel plate. This solution has the advantage that diagrams, lines or other images can be stored interchangeably in the space between the plate and the plastic plate.

Illustrations, plans, etc. can be held in place using permanent magnets on both the sheet steel board and the plastic plate that may be placed above it. If the transparent plate is made of a material that is not attacked by the writing ink, you can also write on this plastic surface with dry-wipe markers if it has the appropriate wetting properties.

Figure 1 clearly shows that the board (1) according to the invention is a convex writing surface. This writing surface is preferably made of sheet steel which is protected against rust and has a white coating on the writing surface side, preferably with a white enamel layer. The drawers (6, 7) in which pens, cleaning cloths , etc. can be stored are also clearly visible. Special bearing blocks (9) are provided for the pens (8) so that the pens can be easily removed. When closed, the drawers (6, 7) fit harmoniously into the side walls (5, 6).

Figure 2 shows in the sectional view that the panel (1) is inserted into a groove (11) in the upper frame (3). A groove (12, 13) is also provided in each of the side walls (4, 5) to give the panel a good hold. The individual frame parts (2, 3, 4, 5) can be glued, screwed, welded or otherwise connected to one another. To prevent drum-like noises when writing on the board (1), insulation material (10) can be placed on the back of the board (1). This can be achieved by coating it with anti-noise material or by sticking a layer of foam on it. It is also possible to clamp a felt sheet behind the board.

Not shown in the figures is the embodiment described in the text, in which the panel (1) made of sheet steel is covered by a plate made of transparent plastic.

Claims (8)

Wall panel with a curved surface made of white coated, preferably white enamelled, sheet steel, characterized in that the panel ( 1 ) is convexly shaped and is clamped into correspondingly designed grooves ( 11 , 12 , 13 ) of a frame ( 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 ) using the restoring force of the material. 2. Wall panel with curved surface according to claim 1, characterized in that the panel ( 1 ) is clamped into the curved shape of the frame ( 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 ) by means of holding elements. 3. Wall board with curved surface, according to claim 1 and/or 2, characterized in that the frame ( 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 ) encloses the board ( 1 ) on all sides. 4. Wall board with a curved surface according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that compartments ( 6 , 7 ) for receiving writing pens ( 8 ) are provided in the frame parts ( 4 , 5 ). 5. Wall board with curved surface according to claim 4, characterized in that the receptacles for writing pens ( 8 ) are designed as drawers ( 6 , 7 ). 6. Wall panel with curved surface according to claim 1, characterized in that the back of the panel ( 1 ) is coated with an insulating material ( 10 ). 7. Wall panel with curved surface according to claim 6, characterized in that the insulating material ( 10 ) is a foam board. 8. Wall panel with curved surface according to claim 6, characterized in that the insulating material ( 10 ) is a felt panel.
