Lock for leash or belt

The invention relates to a lock for forming a loop on a leash of any kind, for example a dog leash, another leash, a rope for tying up a boat, on a trouser belt or the like.

A dog handler holds and leads his dog with a dog leash. At one end there is a snap hook, which is clipped into the collar. At the other end of the dog leash there is a loop. The dog handler puts his hand into this. However, it also happens that the dog handler wants to attach the dog leash and thus the dog to a stationary object with this loop or, as they say, tie it up. This stationary object can be the protruding end of a railing or a table leg, which he places in the loop while lifting the table. In any case, it must be a protruding part around which he can place the loop. He cannot use a bar of a stair banister, a bicycle stand, the footrest on a counter, etc., as he cannot push the closed loop over this bar, etc.

The above problems arise in a similar form for a boater who wants to secure a boat or a barge with a rope to a bollard or any object on the bank or to a raft. The same applies

for a trouser belt. Holes are punched into the belt to adjust it to the different waist sizes of the wearer. However, it can happen that the holes only allow the belt to be folded too wide or too tight and a new hole has to be punched. For this you need a hole punch. If you don't have one of these pliers, the belt cannot be adjusted to the correct waist size.

The invention is intended to create a lock with which, for example, the free end of the dog leash that is not attached to the dog collar can be placed around almost any part and then or simultaneously made into a loop. This loop can be any size. With such a loop, the dog owner can also attach the dog leash to a bicycle stand or a tree, for example. The lock is also intended to create a loop for tying a boat or other watercraft to a bollard or another fixed object. The lock is also intended to create a trouser belt that can be adjusted to any waist size without any holes.

The solution to this problem is achieved according to the invention with a lock which is characterized in that it has at least three legs running essentially parallel to one another and a connecting element holding them in this position, with immediately adjacent legs defining a slot between them which is open at one end for inserting a piece of, for example, the dog leash.

To simplify the description, the lock will be described below in its application to a dog leash. This is not a limitation. The other applications mentioned above and others fall within the scope of the invention.

To form a loop, the dog handler pushes the middle leg into the slot provided at one end of the dog leash.

tight loop, folds the adjacent part of the dog leash 180° so that an open loop is created, and pushes the dog leash at the end of this open loop between the three legs. The two outer legs come to lie above the dog leash and the middle leg below it. The dog handler can then make the loop larger or smaller by moving the lock in one direction or the other. The dog handler can carry out all of these steps with a dog leash held freely in his hand or with a dog leash that he puts with its free end around the bar of a stair banister or the bar of a bicycle stand.

In a practical embodiment, the lock has the shape of the large block letter E, the legs of which form the three parallel bars of the E and the connecting element of which is represented by the vertical line of the E.

The ends of the bars are angled at 90°. This prevents the dog leash from slipping out of the lock. The ends of the bars can be angled in the same or different directions.

It is also possible that the two outer bars are angled inwards.

In a second practical embodiment, the lock has the shape of the large block letter S, the arches of which consist of straight, parallel sections. The ends of the two arches are expediently angled at 90°. These angled ends prevent the dog leash from slipping out of the lock. In its application, the second embodiment does not differ from the first. The loop is formed in the same way.

The lock can be made of metal or plastic.

The invention will now be described further using the example of the embodiments shown in the drawing. In the drawing:

Figure 1 shows a dog leash 12 with a snap hook 14 at one end and a loop 16 at the other end. Approximately in the middle - but the location is arbitrary - is the lock 18 according to the invention. A loop 20 formed at the free end of the dog leash 12 is inserted into the lock 18. According to the illustration in Figure 3, the shape of the lock 12 shown has the shape of the capital letter E. It has a connecting element 22, which represents the vertical line of the E, and three legs or bars 24. Their ends 26 are angled at 90°. The ends 26 of the two outer bars 24 are angled inwards, the end 26 of the inner bar 24 is angled upwards. It could also be angled downwards. According to the illustration in Figure 4, the

Figures 6 and 7 show the second embodiment of the lock according to the invention in the form of the capital letter S. This lock 18 has two arches 28 with angled ends 26.

To form a loop 16, the dog handler slides the loop 20 provided at the free end of the dog leash 12 over the middle bar 24 of the lock 18 according to the invention. He then forms a loop 16 of any size and fixes it by pushing the piece of dog leash 12 at its end between the bars 24. Figures 1 and 2 show the final state. The angled ends 26 - see Figures 3 and 4 - prevent the loop 20 and the piece of dog leash 12 at the end of the loop 16 from slipping out of the lock 18.

The dog owner can hold the loop 16 formed in this way in his hand to hold the dog leash 12 and thus lead the dog. He can also put the free end of the dog leash 12 around a table leg or another object at the beginning of the whole process. In this way he attaches the dog leash 12 to it. He ties up his dog in a new, inventive way. He can give the loop 16 any size he wants.

Figures 1 to 5 show a square, generally rectangular cross-section of the connecting element 22, the beams 24 and the ends 26 of the lock 18. These parts can also have a different, for example a circular, cross-section.

The scope of the invention also includes the use of the lock on a horse halter, with which a horse is tied to a tree in the field, for example. Figure 1 also indicates the use of the lock on a trouser belt. The lock 18 can be moved in both directions along the double arrow. This allows the trouser belt to be tightened or loosened.
