Die Kreuzungsbereiche solcher Klebebänder sind, was die erstrebte Abdichtung angeht, nicht zufriedenstellend. Im Bereich der Längskanten verbleiben zwischen dem untenliegenden und dem quer übergreifenden Klebeband Randklüfte. Die sind klebetechnisch unverfüllt. reicht es schon aus, wenn der Überstand mindestens etwa der Dicke der Dichtungsmasse entspricht. Zweckmäßig nimmt der Überstand das Fünffache der Dicke der Dichtungsmasse ein. Jedoch hat sich auch gezeigt, daß schon ein Überstand zwischen 0,1 und 2 mm jedenfalls bei gängigen Arbeitsbreiten entsprechender Klebebänder ausreicht . Um die freiliegenden Partien der Dichtungsmasse in ihrer Klebekraft nicht zu beeinträchtigen, sind Schutzmaßnahmen dahingehend getroffen, daß die Überstände der Dichtungsmasse durch eine Abziehfolie abgedeckt sind. Es kann sich hier um separate Abziehfolien handeln. Alternativ kann beispielsweise in vorteilhafter Weise auch so vorgegangen werden, daß ein um den Überstand der Dichtungsmasse herumgeschlagener Randabschnitt des Schutzstreifens zugleich die Abziehfolie bildet. Eine solche Ausrüstung gestaltet sich sogar als wirtschaftlicher. Weiter wird vorgeschlagen, daß die Dichtungsmasse von einer Butylschicht gebildet ist. Solche auf Butylkautschukbasis stehende Kleber erweisen sich als äußerst haftstark und bringen auch eine zufriedenstellende Schichtverformbarkeit, um in tiefe Ritzen und Spalten sowohl der zu verbindenen Elemente als auch im Bereich des Klebebandes, d.h. der Dichtungsmasse, zu gelangen, wo es praktisch zu einer Kaltverschweißung miteinander kommt. Verlegevorteilhaft erweist sich sodann die Maßnahme, daß der Schutzstreifen zweigeteilt ist. So kann erst die Bestückung des einen Elementes unter zunächst weiterbestehender Schutzabdeckung der anderen Hälfte der Schutzstreifens gearbeitet werden. Endlich wird noch vorgeschlagen, daß der Trägerstreifen aus einer Aluminiumfolie besteht mit sichtseitig aufgetragener Silikonschicht. Letzteres erlaubt die Form der Vorratshaltung des Aufwickeins und substituiert sogar den Schutzstreifen.
