The invention relates to a combined living room table/desk with computer stand and workstation with two separable panels arranged one above the other and drawer containers.

The widespread use of home computers or personal computers in recent years largely relates to their installation and use in homes.

In addition to the use of such computers in the private sector, they are becoming increasingly important in the context of home offices, especially with online and/or Internet connections. The proper use of these computers in the private and professional sectors naturally requires space for the computer with keyboard and monitor, as well as for the telephone and, in particular in the case of home offices, for fax machines. For proper use, these must be accessible and available at all times.

This is precisely what causes space problems in smaller apartments, such as those that are mostly available to younger users of home computers or personal computers. It is often not possible for them to set up a separate office and work room or even a separate work area with separate desks and computer tables. Storing the devices in cupboards, shelves, etc. outside of usage times and setting them up for use creates considerable organizational problems, not to mention the time required. Proper work is virtually impossible, especially for computer home workstations.

There are so-called "PC workstations" or "PC workstations" in which there are surfaces at different heights for the keyboard, the monitor and the actual computer in a mobile frame. These often have additional storage space for telephones and/or fax machines, printers, etc. However, these workstations or workstations lack an actual desk top, and there are usually no drawer containers like on normal desks. These well-known workstations or workstations for computers also have the disadvantage, despite being equipped with castors and the mobility that this provides, that when used in the living area they can only be placed in front of, next to or behind a living room or work table, thus creating additional space requirements.

Conventional desks have sufficient storage space, drawers, etc. for equipment and work materials and are sometimes also equipped with additional standing space

for monitors. However, due to their special construction and purpose, they are not suitable for use as a computer workstation for purely residential purposes, in particular as a dining table.

The object of the present invention is to create a combination of living room table and desk with computer workstation that eliminates the problems mentioned when used in apartments and can serve both as a fully-fledged living room table and as a fully-fledged computer workstation.

The problem is essentially solved by the combination of two table tops arranged one above the other but separable, each with its own substructure, which have the characterizing features of claim 1. Advantageous embodiments are protected in the subclaims.

The living room table/desk with computer stand according to the invention is described below using drawings. They show

The living room table/desk with computer stand consists of the main table (!) with the table top (2) and the four table legs (3), in the place of which side walls running parallel to the narrow sides of the table top (2), skid-shaped base parts or even several table legs can be provided. The table preferably has the usual height for living rooms and desks of between 65 cm and 75 cm. As a further component, the living room table/desk has the upper table (4) with the table top (5), which rests on two table legs/columns (6, 7), each of which is attached to one and the same long side of the table top (5) and close to its opposite ends. The table base (6) has a fixed base plate (8) at its lower end, which is expedient but not essential for the invention. The drawer container (9) is fixed to the table base (7) as a rolling container with swiveling castors (10), as shown in particular in Fig. 2, 4, 5 and 7, but can be rotated around the vertical by up to 180°. For this purpose, two

Cross members (11, 12) are rigidly attached and engage in swivel joints or hinges (13, 14) at the top and bottom of the rear of the drawer container (9) in a medium width. This means that the drawer container can be rotated and swiveled to both sides around the hinges (13, 14) using the rollers (10) until the rear wall stops against the cross members (11, 12).

The drawer container expediently has a roller (10) in all four corner areas of its base; however, in the sense of the invention, only two rollers (10) can be mounted in the front corner areas of the drawer container, as can be seen in Fig. 1, or only one roller arranged in the front middle area of the base of the drawer container.

The upper table (4) is higher than the main table (1) and suitably has a table top (5) distance from the floor of 80 cm to 85 cm. The table top (5) is smaller in width and, in the example shown, also smaller in length than the table top (2) of the main table (1). The upper table (4) serves as a stand for the computer, monitor, telephone and/or fax machine and, when not in use, also as a storage space for the computer keyboard, provided that it is not stored in or on the drawer container (9).

When using the living room table/desk as a computer workstation or other workstation, the upper table (4) is pushed from the back of the main table (1) towards it, with its table top (5) overlapping the table top (2) of the main table (1) and at the same time the drawer container (9) is placed under the main table (1).

When not being used as a desk with a computer workstation, the upper table (4) with the drawer container (9) is removed from the main table (!) so that it can be used as a normal table, especially for residential purposes. In this case, the required standing area for the upper table (4) with the drawer container (9) is reduced by the latter being swung under the table top (5), as shown in Fig. 6 and 7. The upper table (4) with the drawer container (9) can, in the sense of the invention, also be used as a workstation after it has been removed from the main table (1) due to its own stability; other uses are also conceivable, such as a dressing table.

The described living room table/desk with computer stand makes it possible to set up a workstation, in particular a computer workstation in conjunction with a table for normal living purposes in a small space, especially in apartments, where the devices (computer, keyboard, monitor, telephone and fax) are always ready for use and operational and not, as was previously the case when the main table is needed for living purposes, in particular as a dining table, or otherwise when the workstation is not in use, put away and stored in cupboards and shelves.
