Such a frame-like structure was disclosed in the older, but not previously published, German utility model application 296 09 291.6. The subject matter of this application is to connect light metal extruded profiles of a specific cross-section to one another in such a way that a frame is created as a substructure for tables or the like. For this purpose, longitudinal and transverse beams made from the hollow profiles are connected to one another in an H-shape. The ends of the shorter transverse beams protrude beyond the longitudinal beams and have posts on their front areas. This results in a frame-like structure whose hollow profiles are set back from the edges of the plate connected to them.

The subject matter of this earlier application did not address the problem of how cable ducts can be arranged in order to suitably design the frame-like supports for office furniture or the like.

The invention is therefore based on the task of finding the simplest possible solution in order to achieve a frame-like structure according to the earlier application or a comparable one, which is also

to develop the simplest and cheapest possible arrangement for forming a cable duct using the known frame.

The solution to this problem consists in the fact that at least one trough-shaped holding element forming a cable duct is formed on the outside of the individual hollow profile facing the edge of the panel.

This proposed solution avoids arranging the cable duct inside the hollow profile, as is the case with numerous embodiments of the prior art. Such an internal arrangement of the cable duct would mean that the cables or their guides would have to be arranged inside the hollow profiles before the frame-shaped frame is assembled. The invention, on the other hand, offers the advantage of only properly accommodating the cables after the frame-shaped frame has been formed. It plays a certain role here whether the hollow profiles, on the outside of which the cable duct is to be formed, are to run straight or curved. If it is a curved hollow profile, which is intended, for example, to form a frame for a circular or oval table, then it is recommended in the sense of subclaims 2 to 4 to design the individual trough-shaped holding element from a plurality of hook-like structures arranged at a distance from one another, which can be connected to the hollow profile.

It is recommended to arrange two holes next to each other in the wall of the metal profile for each holding element, into which the free legs of a U-shaped holding bracket engage in such a way that the legs are supported both on the inner wall surface and on the outside of the metal profile under load.

Such or similar hook-shaped holding elements are known per se. They are used to hang tools or similar items clearly on a holding plate with numerous holes.

However, it is not known how to form a channel along a curved surface with a plurality of such hook-shaped elements arranged at a distance from one another, which can be used to accommodate cables.

However, the invention also discloses another embodiment variant, according to which the trough-shaped holding element is designed as a channel formed on the extruded metal profile during extrusion.

However, such a channel formation only makes sense if the metal hollow profile is straight. If this hollow profile had to be curved to support a circular or oval table surface, the formation would cause some problems when bending the metal profile. In such a case, the arrangement of hook-shaped holding elements arranged at a distance from one another would certainly be preferable.

However, if it is a straight hollow profile, it is also possible to provide the option of forming the molded channel through an originally closed wall and to provide longitudinal breaking lines in the wall to separate the wall area in between.

Such an arrangement is easier to produce using extrusion technology. You only need to open up the areas of the wall where the introduction of one or more cables is required.

The embodiment of Figure 1 is based on the teaching of the older DE-GM application 296 09 291.6. In cross section a metallic hollow profile (4) is shown, which can be, for example, a longitudinal beam of a frame-shaped rack (1). Such a measure is particularly advantageous when the metal hollow profile (4) is curved in order to support a circular or oval-shaped plate (2). The retaining brackets (9) arranged next to each other follow the curvature of the retaining profile (4) and therefore do not represent an obstacle to pulling in the cables (8).

If, however, the metallic hollow profile (4) is designed in a straight line, an arrangement as shown in Figures 3 and 4 may be recommended.

In the example in Figure 3 it is shown that a U-shaped web (15) is connected to the outside (5) of the metallic hollow profile (4), which forms the cable duct (14). This web (15) can be produced together with the metallic hollow profile (4) during extrusion. In this embodiment, the individual cable (8) is inserted from above into the molded cable duct (14).

However, it is also possible, in the sense of the embodiment in Figure 4, to form an originally closed wall (19) of the cable duct (14) together with the metallic hollow profile (4) by extrusion. In order to insert the cables into the cable duct (14) at the desired location, there are parallel predetermined breaking lines (16) in the closed wall (19), between which detachable wall areas (17) are provided. The position of the predetermined breaking lines (16) can be freely selected depending on the application.

In this way, it is possible to keep the wall thickness of the closed wall (19) low and thus save costs. By pressing in or peeling off the wall areas (17), suitable openings are formed for inserting the cables (8) without affecting the stability of the metallic hollow profile (4) with the wall (19).
