Profile set for bridging joints or openings

The invention relates to a set of profiles for bridging joints or openings, such as creating a structural connection between window or door frames inserted into an opening in a building and the building, comprising a cover profile strip and a compensating profile strip that can be snapped into the cover profile strip in different positions, the cover profile strip having at least one continuous insertion opening with a sawtooth-like profile formed on one or both side edges and the compensating profile strip having continuous insertion feet in the longitudinal extension with locking lugs protruding at their ends.

The serviceability of windows or doors installed in an opening in a building must be ensured over a reasonable period of use. Therefore, high requirements for installation are now prescribed in accordance with the RAL quality mark and a number of standards that must be observed. Particular care must be taken when connecting the window or door element to the room. The installed window or door should be windproof,

have sufficient thermal insulation in accordance with the prescribed standards and ensure particularly good insulation between the interior of the room and the environment. In addition, the building connection should also be able to be carried out with as little assembly effort as possible, which significantly reduces the assembly costs.

A profile set made up of three interlocking profile parts is already known from DE 44 22 153 Cl, which can be adapted to different building connection situations by putting the profile parts together and seals the building connection joint between the building and the window or door frame used. The disadvantage of this known profile set, however, is that, on the one hand, putting the individual profile parts together is relatively complicated and requires the fitter to be skilled when putting them together, which unnecessarily extends the assembly times, and on the other hand, the connection between the profile set parts caused by putting them together can, under certain circumstances, be lost or negatively changed over a longer period of time. Furthermore, the known profile set cannot be easily adapted to very uneven surfaces of the building, such as those that can be present when renovating buildings, which leads to a deteriorated building connection in these areas.

The aim of the innovation is therefore to further develop the known profile sets with two strips that can be locked together in different positions to bridge joints or openings in such a way that assembly is simplified while at the same time creating a permanent connection. In this way, for example, the production of the building connection is simplified and, if necessary, the sealing is further improved.

This object is achieved with a profile set according to the characterizing features of claim 1.

Advantageous embodiments of the innovation can be found in the subclaims.

The innovation proposes that the insertion feet of the compensation profile strip included in the profile set have different heights from one another and have an outward-facing locking lug on their free ends for locking in the insertion opening of the cover profile strip and that the insertion feet can be inserted together into the insertion opening of the cover profile strip by pressing them together to create a clamping force.

Due to the different heights of the insertion feet, it is easy to adjust or adapt the insertion depth of the compensating profile strip in the insertion opening of the cover profile strip, so that adjustment to the respective installation position and the width of the joint or opening to be bridged can be carried out permanently and easily by means of different insertion depths.

It is surprising that the plug-in feet with unequal heights, once fully inserted into the plug-in opening of the cover profile strip, allow the compensation profile strip to be easily pulled out to adjust and bridge different joint widths, etc., but make it almost impossible to push it back into the cover profile strip in the opposite direction. This makes it easy to fix the compensation profile strip on site in the desired locking position after pulling it more or less far out of the cover profile strip.

This makes the installation of the new profile set considerably easier. The compensation profile strip is advantageously already fastened in the factory in a position that is pushed in as deeply as possible in the cover profile strip, so that during installation the compensation profile strip only needs to be pulled out step by step by the fitter into the position required to bridge the joint or opening, which is easy

is possible, while pushing it back to a lower position is not possible and the covering of the joint or opening is permanently ensured.

Furthermore, the plug-in feet located in the insertion opening of the cover profile strip are slightly pressed together in this position. By pressing them together and the simultaneous creation of a clamping force, the plug-in feet of the compensation profile strip lock particularly firmly into the insertion opening of the cover profile strip, so that a permanent connection is guaranteed that can no longer come loose on its own. This firm connection is further increased by the outward-facing locking lugs, which engage in the sawtooth-like profile of the insertion opening and, supported by the clamping force of the pressed-together plug-in feet, cause the compensation profile strip to hook into the cover profile strip in the desired position and in accordance with the sawtooth-like profile on the locking steps lying one above the other.

In order to further increase the clamping force required for a firm fit due to the pressing together of the plug-in feet that are inserted together into the plug-in opening of the cover profile strip, it is proposed that the plug-in feet of the compensation profile strip be arranged in a V-shape relative to one another, such that they are further apart from one another at their free ends than at their ends connected to the compensation profile strip. Due to this V-shaped arrangement of the two plug-in feet, they are slightly spread apart in their resting state and are moved towards one another by being inserted together into the plug-in opening of the cover profile strip compared to this spread-apart resting position, whereby the clamping force is increased as a result of the elasticity of the plug-in feet.

In a further advantageous embodiment of the innovation, it is proposed that the insertion feet of the compensation profile strip

have a thickening at the same height along their side surfaces facing each other. If the insertion feet designed in this way are pushed together into the insertion opening of the cover profile strip, they are, as already mentioned, pressed together and abut one another in the area of their thickenings at the same height, so that they support one another and excessive compression, which results in insufficient locking in the insertion opening of the cover profile strip, is prevented.

This thickening is advantageously formed in the area of the ends connected to the compensating profile strip on at least one third of the total height of the insertion feet, but can also be formed in other suitable places and in a different design within the scope of the innovation, for example in the form of a protruding web formed on the side surfaces facing each other.

The connection sides of the cover profile strip and the compensation profile strip outside their interlocking areas can be adapted to the respective conditions.

If the new profile set also takes on sealing functions, for example in the case of building connections, it is proposed that the compensating profile strip has a pocket along its length on the side opposite the plug-in feet for receiving a pre-compressed sealing tape, which can be closed using a hinged lid so that the sealing tape in the pocket can be kept in a pre-compressed state. This makes it possible to prefabricate the new profile set together with the sealing tape to be inserted into the compensating profile strip and to seal the building connection joint as an assembly unit in the factory, so that during assembly all that is required is to cut the profile set to the desired lengths in accordance with the building connection joint to be sealed. The new profile set can be manufactured from a thermoplastic, aluminum or wood and can therefore be adapted to the material used for the window or door frame.

If the profile set is made from a thermoplastic material, for example by means of extrusion, in a particularly advantageous embodiment of the innovation the cover can be integrally formed onto the compensating profile strip. By producing the connection between the cover and the compensating profile strip with the smallest possible material thickness, a particularly flexible connection is also created between the cover and the compensating profile strip, so that this connection acts as a thin film hinge and enables the cover to be opened. Of course, it is also possible to tear the cover off the compensating profile strip along this thin connection, which also enables easy assembly.

To further increase the sealing effect and to create a particularly harmonious visual impression, in a further development of the innovation, the 0 compensating profile strip can also have at least one protruding sealing lip made of a soft elastic material on its side opposite the plug-in feet, which comes to rest on the surface of the structure to seal after the profile set has been installed. The sealing strip resting on the structure behind this protruding sealing lip is then also completely covered, which on the one hand leads to an advantageous appearance and on the other hand to a

Fig. 4 shows a schematic enlarged view of another embodiment of a profile set.

In Fig. 2, a construction connection is shown between a window with a frame 2, a sash 3, which carries the glazing 4, and a building structure 5. The window is inserted with its frame 2 into the opening of the building structure 5, leaving a construction connection joint, and is fixed in this position. To create the construction connection, i.e. seal the construction connection joint 6, on the one hand, in the example shown in Fig. 2 on the outside of the window, a

pre-compressed sealing tape 8 is inserted between the frame 2 and the building structure 5. On the other side of the building connection joint 6, i.e. in the example shown on the inside of the room, a profile set 1 is attached to the frame 2. A carrier profile strip 10 is hooked into a corresponding recess 2 0 in the frame 2. The carrier profile strip 10 can also be attached in a suitable manner to the frame 2 by means of screws or adhesive.

A cover profile strip 12 is snapped onto this carrier profile strip 10. The cover profile strip 12 in turn has an insertion opening 122 into which a compensating profile strip 13 is inserted with its insertion feet 13 0, 131. A pre-compressed sealing strip 11 is then inserted on the side facing away from the insertion feet 13 0, 131, which comes to rest on the building structure 5 and also seals the building connection joint 6 in this area. The compensating profile strip 13 was pulled out of the insertion opening 122 of the cover profile strip 12 in the direction of the building structure 5 so far that the sealing strip 11 is firmly attached to the building structure 5. To further increase the sealing of the construction connection joint 6, the space formed between the two sealing strips 8, 11 is filled with a suitable insulating foam 7.

As can also be seen from Fig. 1b, the compensating profile strip 13 has the two insertion feet 13 0, 131 on one side, whereby the insertion foot 131 has a greater height than the insertion foot 130 and outward-facing hook-shaped ends 13 0a, 131a are formed on the free ends of both insertion feet 130, 131. On the side facing away from the insertion feet 130, 131, the compensating profile strip 13 has a receiving surface 132 for supporting the pre-compressed sealing strip 11 shown in Fig. 2, whereby the supporting surface 13 2 is laterally delimited by two protruding webs 133a, 133b running along the longitudinal extension, so that a receiving pocket 13 8 for the

pre-compressed sealing tape 11 is formed. A compensating profile strip 13 designed in this way provides a permanent seal for the building connection joint with particularly easy installation, which is explained in more detail below using the illustration of a further embodiment of the compensating profile strip 13 in Fig. 4.

As can be seen from this Fig. 4, the compensating profile strip 13 has the two plug-in feet 13 0, 131 on one side, whereby the plug-in foot 13 0 has the lower height hl compared to the height h.2 of the plug-in foot 131. Due to the different heights hl, h.2 of the insertion feet 130, 131, the compensation profile strip 13 can be easily pulled out of the cover profile strip in the direction of the arrow P3 by a dimension required for covering, for example, the building connection joint 6, so that, as already explained with reference to Fig. 2, the sealing strip 11 is firmly attached to the building structure, but the unequal height of the insertion feet 130, 131 ensures that the compensation profile strip 13 can only be pushed into the cover profile strip 12 against the direction of the arrow P3 with great effort or not at all, so that once the sealing strip 11 has been firmly attached to the building structure by pulling out, i.e. adjusting, the compensation profile strip 13 in the direction of the arrow P3, it cannot be lost.

The compensation profile strip 13 is advantageously pre-assembled at the factory, deeply inserted into the cover profile strip 12, so that the adjustment to the joint width can be carried out particularly easily by partially pulling out the compensation profile strip during assembly.

By inserting the two insertion feet 13 0, 131 together into only one insertion opening 122 of the cover profile strip 12 5, a particularly strong connection with the compensation profile strip 13 is also achieved, since the two insertion feet 130, 131 are pressed together when inserted into the insertion opening 122 and, due to their elasticity,

subsequently exert a clamping force on the side walls of the insertion opening 122 and thus ensure a firm fit. To further increase this firm fit, the side walls of the insertion opening 122 are also provided in a known manner with a toothing 123, into which the outwardly directed hook-shaped ends 130a, 131a of the insertion feet 130,131 engage and cause a gradual locking, which is supported by the clamping force just described. By appropriately designing a large number of gradations of the toothing 123, it is also possible to insert and fasten the compensating profile strip 13 at different depths within the insertion opening 122 of the cover profile strip 12, whereby different widths of the building connection joint 6 according to Fig. 2 can be easily bridged.

If the thickness of the thickenings 14 is matched to the width of the insertion opening 122 in such a way that the two thickenings 14 always abut one another when the insert feet 130, 131 are inserted into the insertion opening 122, these thickenings 14 also serve as a support for the two insert feet 130, 131 and reinforce the

elastic properties exerted on the side walls of the insertion opening 122.

These clamping forces exerted on the side walls of the insertion opening 122 by the insertion feet 130, 131 are further increased in a defined manner by the two insertion feet 130, 131, as can be seen in Fig. 1b, being aligned in a slight V-shape to one another, such that they are spaced closer together at their end connected to the compensating profile strip 13 than in the area of the hook-shaped bent ends 130a, 131a. The insertion feet 130, 131, which are thus slightly spread apart in their rest position, are pressed together when inserted into the insertion groove 122 according to Fig. 4, depending on the angle at which the V-shaped insertion feet 130, 131 run, into the almost straight alignment shown in Fig. 4, whereby the clamping forces exerted on the side walls of the insertion opening 122 due to the elasticity of the material are further increased and ensure that the compensation profile strip 13 is permanently firmly seated in the cover profile strip 12.

The firm connection with the compensating profile strip 13, brought about by the high clamping forces of the insertion feet 13 0, 131 in the insertion opening 122 of the cover profile strip 12, can be further increased by providing the insertion feet 130, 131 of the compensating profile strip 13 with spaced-apart millings 13 9 in the area of their free ends, as shown in Fig. 1a. These millings 13 9 0 divide the insertion feet 13 0, 131, which originally ran continuously along the longitudinal extension of the compensating profile strip 13, into individual sections each delimited by millings 139, whereby the millings are preferably aligned with one another in both insertion feet 13 0, 131, so that the division into individual sections is congruent along both insertion feet 13 0, 131. In this way, rough, uneven surfaces of the building in the area of the building connection joint, as is often encountered when renovating old buildings, for example, can be optimally sealed, since the compensation profile strip 13 can be adapted to this uneven course of the surface along its longitudinal extension.

The cover 136 thus holds the pre-compressed sealing tape inserted into the receiving pocket 138 in its pre-compressed position and prevents it from expanding.

However, if, as shown in Fig. 3b, the lid 13 6 is opened from its locked closed position in the direction of arrow Pl, the sealing strip 11 inserted into the receiving pocket 13 8 gradually begins to expand into a decompressed position according to arrow P2.

By selecting the insertion pins 121 arranged one above the other for the insertion opening 103 of the carrier profile strip 10, a rough adjustment can be made to the width of the building connection joint to be bridged, while the fine adjustment is made by partially pulling the compensation profile strip 13 out of the insertion opening 122 of the cover profile strip 12. Before this, as shown in Fig. 3b, the cover of the compensating profile strip 13 is opened according to arrow Pl and the pre-compressed sealing strip 11 inside the receiving pocket 138 begins to gradually expand in the direction of arrow P2 under decompression and comes to rest on the surface of the building in a manner not shown in detail, thereby sealing the building connection joint. The resting on the surface of the building is ensured by the fact that after opening the cover 136, the compensating profile strip 13 is pulled out of this insertion opening 122 to the required extent compared to its position shown in Fig. 3a, fully inserted into the insertion opening 122, see Fig. 3b, so that the sealing strip 11 is brought close to the surface of the building. The unequal length insertion feet 130, 131 of the compensation profile strip 13 then permanently prevent this adjusted position from being lost again, since they block insertion into the cover profile strip 12.

0 This high level of flexibility in terms of adaptation to different joint widths of the building connection joint enables adaptation to a wide range of conditions within the building opening in which the building connection between a window or a door is to be made using the profile set, with the simplest installation. It is also possible, if the situation requires it, to attach the compensation profile strip 13 to the cover profile strip 12 in a position rotated by 180°. In this position as shown in Fig.

3c, the opened cover 136 of the compensation profile strip 13 can also take on the function of an additional aesthetic sealing lip against the masonry.

Of course, instead of the previously described possibility of opening the cover 13 6 around the film hinge 134, it is also possible to tear off the cover 13 6 during assembly along the connection, which is as thin as possible and forms the film hinge 134, to the protruding leg 133b with little effort, which also enables easy assembly of the profile set.

In order to achieve a further increased sealing effect, as shown in Fig. 1c, a protruding sealing lip 137 made of a soft elastic material can be formed on the side of the compensation profile strip 13 opposite the insertion feet 13 0, 131. This protruding sealing lip 137 can be attached, for example, to the free end of the protruding web 133b and, when the compensation profile strip 13 is installed, comes to rest on the surface of the building structure, thereby further increasing the sealing of the building connection joint. In addition, the soft elastic sealing lip 137 can also be formed on the free end of the protruding web 133a and can also be provided when forming the cover 13 6 closing the receiving pocket 13 8. Depending on the installation position of the compensation profile strip 13, the soft elastic sealing lip 137 can then, when positioned accordingly on the compensation profile strip 13, not only contribute to increasing the sealing of the construction connection joint, but also protect the sealing strip 11 located in the receiving pocket 13 8 against damage and also completely cover it, thereby creating an additional advantageous visual impression.

Profile set for bridging joints or openings, such as creating a building connection between a window or door frame inserted into an opening in a building and the building, containing a cover profile strip and a compensation profile strip that can be locked into the cover profile strip in different positions, the cover profile strip having at least one continuous insertion opening with a sawtooth-like profile formed on one or both side edges and the compensation profile strip having continuous insertion feet in the longitudinal extension with locking lugs protruding at their ends, characterized in that the insertion feet of the compensation profile strip have different heights (hl, h2) from one another and have an outward-facing locking lug at their free ends for locking in the insertion opening of the cover profile strip and the insertion feet can be inserted together into the insertion opening of the cover profile strip by pressing them together to produce a clamping force. 2. Profile set according to claim 1, characterized in that the insertion feet of the compensating profile strip are arranged in a V-shape to one another in such a way that they are further apart from one another at their free ends than at their ends connected to the compensating profile strip. 3.
