The innovation concerns a protective cap for screw clamps, which is suitable for the standard types used as normal, i.e. cast and forged versions, as well as their counterparts according to the generic term of claim 1.

This innovation has already been the subject of

various protective measures:

Under 2316216 such protective caps are provided with magnetic inserts. The GM 84 19 795 has a protective cap that extends to the rail

The versions described are known so far, but always specifically for one clamp type and size.

The invention is based on the object of creating a protective cap that can be used for several types and sizes.

The screw clamps to be fitted in the sales programs are the so-called malleable cast iron screw clamps and the all-steel screw clamps. Due to the type of manufacture, the clamping surfaces are either small or

larger dimensions.

According to the invention, this is done with dimensions that vary continuously in width and height in a kind of conical shape. A protective cap made as a long band with a kind of dovetail guide, i.e. with an undercut edge reduction that extends over both sides, must be designed in such a way that all sizes of the screw clamp types can be firmly locked in height and/or width at at least one point along the length of the band. To allow for flexibility when slipping over, this band should preferably be made of a soft plastic. Once the most favorable position within the long protective cap has been reached, the protruding part of the entire length is cut off or left to protrude as required.

Figure 1 shows the generally wide clamping surface of the cast upper part. The side (12) of the top view marked as (10) can be clamped in the conical side wall (20) of Figure 8 and in the thickness (14) of the side view marked as (8).

Figure 2 shows with (16) the width of a forged fixed bracket and with

(18) the thickness, which is usually much larger than that marked with (14) in Figure 1.

In Figure 3, the generally movable circular pressure plate is shown as a whole as (22) in side view and with (24) in top view. In this pressure plate, the thickness (26) is also normally made with smaller dimensions.

Figures 4 to 8 show the design of the protective cap according to the invention.

In Figure 4, recesses (28) and (30) provided in the side wall (20) are visible, which can be used to lock the clamping surface dimension to be fixed. The distances then correspond to the desired locking options. At the same time, however, the recesses make the side wall (20) more elastic, for which the wall thickness (32) is of course also responsible. The heights of the recesses correspond to the thicknesses to be held, whereby these must be designed so that the clamping surface sits firmly on the base (34) without play.

The web (36) present on both sides inside can have graduated distances (38) to (40) which are supported on the respective thicknesses (14), (18) and (26) of the pressure plates.

In the base (34) of the protective cap, the positions of the individual screw clamp types can be marked with the known order numbers (42) and (44) and any cutting lines (46) and (48) by firmly inserting them into the injection molding tool.

Claims (6)

Protective cap for normal standard screw clamps, the so-called malleable cast iron screw clamps with cast clamping brackets and the all-steel screw clamps with forged sliding bracket and fixed bracket bent from the rail and forged onto the pressure plate, as well as for the usual pivoting circular pressure plates on the sliding bracket side, characterized in that the protective cap is dimensionally and shape-wise designed in such a way that it can be pushed onto the respective pressure surfaces of several clamp types and sizes and is firmly seated at at least one point on its long shape intended for this purpose, so that it does not fall off after all-round trimming, and covers the clamping surface for gentle clamping of sensitive surfaces. 2. Protective cap according to claim 1, characterized in that its side walls (20) run obliquely on both sides for the different width dimensions (12), (16) and (26) and are provided with recesses (28) and (30) for engaging the printing plate edges and curves. 3. Protective cap according to claims 1 to 2, characterized in that a web (36) attached to both sides of the side wall (20) in a dovetail manner allows a changing gap of the size (38) to (40), which additionally rests on the thickness dimensions (14), (18) and (26) with a kind of spring force. 4. Protective cap according to claims 1 to 3, characterized in that additional bulges (29) and (31) are provided on the inner edge (36), into which the circular shape of the pressure cap on the sliding bracket can snap. 5. Protective cap according to claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the limiting lines (46) and (48) of the individual pressure plate dimensions are indicated on the inside of the protective cap and the order numbers (42) and (44) of the clamp size fixed here can be read off these, whereby the entire area of the protective cap is fixed. 6. Protective cap according to claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the protective cap is preferably made as a plastic injection-molded part from a soft thermoplastic.
