The invention relates to a folding postcard as a cover for a multi-page printed work, consisting of two cover pages that can be folded against each other in a cover spine, into which a multi-page printed work is bound by means of a stitching.

Such cover pages are generally known and serve to protect the outside of printed works, such as books, booklets, etc. Postcards for short messages and greetings are also well known.

The object of the present invention is to make a printed work, for example a book or a booklet of literary content, mailable as a single postal item.

These measures create a postal item in the format of a postcard that can be opened up and into which a multi-page printed work, such as literature, can be inserted and bound. This printed work can be securely closed using the closure flaps so that it can be sent by post. The inside of the cover can be written on and used for greetings or short messages. The outside of both cover sides offer space for an address and sender field, while the front can be printed with a single or multi-colored motif.

In one embodiment of the invention, a detachable third cover page can be assigned to one of the cover pages, with which short messages can be sent back to the sender.

The folding postcard 10 shown in Figures 1 and 2 consists of a first cover page 11 and a second cover page 12, which are connected to one another in one piece via a cover spine 20. On the side opposite the cover spine 20, the second cover page is

The closure part 15 is provided at its outer free end with preferably two closure tabs 16 arranged next to one another and can be folded over the first cover page 11 in a single or double folding fold 21 and connected to it.

The first cover page 11 is provided with tab holders 17 in the form of transverse slots into which the closure tabs 16 can be inserted to close the folding postcard 10. After inserting the closure tabs 16 into the tab holder 17, the cover pages 11 and 12 are connected to one another relatively stably and can be sent by post.

A multi-page printed matter 13 is bound between the cover pages 11 and 12 by means of stitching 18. The stitching 18 is either designed as a continuous adhesive binding or can be stapled in one or more parts. With one-part stapling, the stitching 18 should be long enough to ensure that the printed matter 13 cannot twist in any case. The stitching 18 can be in the area of the cover spine 20 or in the area of the folding fold 21.

In an embodiment of the invention, as shown in Figure 2, the first cover page 11 is connected in one piece to a third cover page 14. The third cover page can be folded inwards against the first cover page 11 in a simple folding fold 22.

If the third cover page 14 is to be used, for example as a reply card, a perforation 19 can be provided by which it can be separated from the cover page 11.

Folding postcard as a cover for a multi-page printed matter, consisting of two cover sides that can be folded against one another in a cover spine, into which a multi-page printed matter is bound by means of a stitch, characterized in that one cover side (12) is provided with a closure part (15) opposite the cover spine (20), closure tabs (16) are provided on the outer free end of the closure part (15), the closure part (15) can be folded over the other cover side (11) in a folding fold (21), the other cover side (11) is provided with tab receptacles (17) and the closure tabs (16) &iacgr;&ogr; can be inserted into the tab receptacles (17). 2. Folding postcard according to claim 1, characterized in that the printing unit (13) is connected to the cover spine (20) in a one-part or multi-part stitching (18). 3. Folding postcard according to claims 1 and 2, characterized in that a third cover page (14) is assigned to the first cover page (11). 4. Folding postcard according to claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the third cover side (14) is connected in one piece to the first cover side (11). 5. Folding postcard according to claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the third cover side (14) connected in one piece with the first cover side (11) can be separated in a perforation (19).
