Abstract

The mortars consist of dry mixts. of group limestone and expanded perlite, both under 0.5 mm particle size, with a hydraulic binder and opt. with addn. of a cellulose deriv., polymer, wetting agent, hydrophobic cpd. or setting time regulator. Pref. compsns. contain methyl cellulose or hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose, PVAc and/or melamine resin, triethanolamine salt of lauryl sulphate or sodium lauryl ether sulphate, a sulphonium salt or metal soap, and K2O3 or similar setting time regulator. The mortars give an extremely smooth surface which can be painted or papered without further treatment. Excessive shrinkage and formation of a network of cracks is prevented. The polymers improved adhesion to the plaster base and the hydrophobic cpds. allow exterior use without a protective cover layer.
