A motorcycle has a main frame with a tube for the steering assembly. The tube has a fork upper head (1) with fine teeth (7) which receives the matching outer teeth (9) in the steering inner tube (8). The relative position of the two sets of teeth is held by a clamp plate (2).

Description

Die Lenkeinrichtung und damit die Lenkeigenschaften bei Krafträdern wird hauptsächlich durch die Geometrie der verwendeten Gabelbrücken bestimmt. Die bisher verwendeten Gabelbrücken sind bis auf wenige Ausnahmen nicht in ihrer Geometrie verstellbar. Das wirkt sich besonders bei einer Änderung der Rad- Reifenkombination des Vorderrades oder bei einer anderen Vorderradgabel negativ auf das Fahrverhalten aus, da eine solche Änderung meist auch eine Änderung des Nachlaufs des Vorderrades mit sich bringt. Auch eine Gewichtsabweichung des Fahrers bzw. des Gesamtgewichtes von der Norm können sich nachteilig auf das Fahrverhalten auswirken, da die Geometrie der Gabelbrücken auf einen vom Hersteller ausgewählten Fahrer mit Normgewicht ausgelegt ist. Bisher musste mit Gabelbrücken von anderen Modellen mit einer anderen Geometrie in Fahrversuchen erprobt werden, ob mit der geänderten Geometrie eine Verbesserung des Fahrverhaltens erreicht werden konnte. Es gibt ein paar Ausnahmen wie z.B. das Patent EP 0 800 986 A2 von Ducati, in dem ein einstellbares Lenkrohr vorgestellt wird, dass allerdings nur einen geringen Einstellweg zulässt. Weiter werden noch wenige Gabelbrücken mit Excenterscheiben gebaut, bei denen der Nachlauf über verschiedene Excenterscheiben am Lenkkopf einstellbar ist. Dabei muss für jede Nachlaufänderung ein anderer Satz Excenterscheiben gekauft werden. Der Umbau ist auswendig und durch den Nachkauf von Excenterscheiben auch teuer und je nach Erhältlichkeit auch langwierig. Es gibt noch weitere Versuche, eine Einstellbarkeit zu ermöglichen, aber davon ist keine so ausgeführt, dass sie den Vorschriften des TÜV entsprechen würde.The steering device and thus the steering properties of motorcycles is mainly determined by the geometry of the fork bridges used.
