Floor coverings are known in the form of laminate panels, the surface of which is provided with a decorative and robust covering layer, for example an imitation wood or a plastic, or of parquet elements, which are made of wood, preferably hardwood. The floor coverings consist of several rows of predominantly rectangular panels in their configuration. Conventionally, the panels have continuous grooves on one long side and on one head side and continuous tongues on the opposite long side or head side, which are adapted to the grooves in a form-fitting manner. It is also known to form mechanical connecting means on the grooves and tongues, which come into latching engagement with one another in the case of panels adjacent in a floor covering.
