The invention relates to spacer fabrics.

Spacer fabrics as such have already been mentioned in the prior art, see for example DE-Cl-196 35 170.
However, the description and claims therein refer only to spacer fabrics in which a three-component yarn is used as a spacer thread.

Understandably, the requirements here are of a special nature, namely to create a particularly robust, breathable surface that, on the one hand, ensures better abrasion resistance and, on the other hand, also enables the largest possible surface pattern.

This object is achieved by the spacer fabric characterized in claim 1.

According to the invention, the textile surfaces consist of a textile product shrunk in the washing process, advantageously of PE yarn, whose spacer threads are knitted monofilament or multifilament. One or both surfaces of the outer sides are jacquarded, which means that a pattern in the form of a word and/or image mark can be introduced, even using several colors. The spacer knit according to the invention is advantageously produced by a fully electronic large circular knitting machine.

In particular, it is then also possible to produce spacer knits with a width of 230 to 240 cm, so that large-area patterns can be jacquarded in repeat.

In the following, a preferred embodiment to explain the invention is explained in more detail with reference to the drawing, to which, however, the invention is not limited.

In Fig. 1, the spacer fabric according to the invention is generally designated 10. It is a multi-layered structure that has an outer and inner textile surface 12 and 14, respectively. The textile surfaces 12, 14 form the front and back or also a top and bottom. These textile surfaces consist of a textile product that has shrunk in the washing process and has a rub cycle number > 50,000 cycles according to DIN ISO 12947. The polyester yarn is of the polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and/or polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) type. The spacer structure 16 in between is formed by spacer monofilament threads 18, which are also made of polyester. Of particular importance according to the invention is the fact that the outer textile surface 12 is jacquarded with a pattern 20 that can be provided in a large-scale repeat. It is of course also possible to provide color patterns here.

Fig. 2 shows a perspective schematic representation of the spacer knit according to the invention, but without taking the pattern 20 into account. It can be clearly seen from this figure that the monofilament threads 18 create a certain distance between the front and back, which is provided with the double arrow 22 and is caused by their stretched structure between the stitches.

Finally, Fig. 3 shows a schematic representation of the thread path at the individual knitting points with tuck, loop and float, which are specially marked. The use of the polyester shrink yarn creates a surface that is particularly resistant to abrasion. The provision of the monofilament threads creates a gap that promotes breathability, etc. At the same time, surface patterning is possible over a large area, so that the spacer knit according to the invention is particularly suitable for mattresses and seat covers. Another area of application is in the automotive sector for interior trim.

Claims (4)

1. Knitted spacer fabric ( 10 ) for mattress and seat covers as well as interior linings with an outer and inner textile surface ( 12 , 14 ) consisting of a textile product shrunk in the washing process and a spacer structure ( 16 ) lying between them, the spacing threads of which on the inner surfaces facing each other are formed from knitted, mono- or multifilament threads ( 18 ), wherein one or both of the outer surfaces ( 12 , 14 ) is or are jacquarded with a pattern ( 20 ). 2. Spacer knit according to claim 1, characterized in that a color pattern is jacquarded. 3. Spacer knit according to claim 1 and 2, characterized in that the pattern has at least 4 × 4 stitches and is produced on a circular knitting machine. 4. Spacer fabric according to claim 1 to 3, characterized in that the shrunken textile product consists of PE yarn.
