Lenksystem mit Sicherheitsleine und Depowerfunktion für KitesSteering system with safety line and depower function for kites
Modern kites (steerable kites) for propelling surfboards and other vehicles and equipment are controlled using steering systems in which lines are both firmly connected to a handlebar that the rider holds with their hands, and lines are only guided on the handlebar and attached to the rider's trapeze. The flight state of the kite can be changed by moving the handlebar relative to the lines attached to the rider. Usually, in so-called tube kites, which are flown with four lines, the difference in length between the two front and the two rear lines is regulated in this way. This changes the angle of attack of the kite to the wind and doses the pulling force. In steering systems with a safety line and depower function for kites of standard design, the handlebar has a hole or an externally mounted guide eyelet in the middle of the handlebar through which a line (1) is guided. Between the handlebar and the kite, this line branches off into at least two lines that are attached to the kite. On the other side of the handlebar, there is a loop on the line (1) into which the rider can hook the harness hook. An additional safety line connects the rider (on the harness or wrist) to one of the flying lines, above the handlebar. This means that the rider is still connected to the kite even if he lets go of the handlebar.
With this design, the rider cannot turn the handlebar back after turning his body while holding the handlebar, which is part of normal jumping maneuvers, because in this case the safety line wraps around the flying lines. Using a safety line therefore requires, according to the state of the art, a subsequent turn of the rider together with the handlebar in the opposite direction to untwist the lines.

The invention specified in claim 1 is based on the problem of creating a secure connection between the rider and the kite, which makes it possible to separate the connection between the rider and the kite at any time and which makes it possible to turn the handlebar back after turns without the safety line wrapping around the kite's flying lines. The connection should be designed in such a way that the rider, after releasing just one line, is still connected to the kite with a single safety line or can also completely detach himself from the kite at any time. This is achieved in the invention by at least two lines that are attached to the kite and only attaching them separately to the trapeze below the bar. Both lines are connected to the trapeze with so-called "panic hooks", as are common in water skiing, or other mechanical fasteners (2) that can be released by hand under load. As a result, one of these lines also functions as a safety line when the connection to the second line is broken. An additional safety line is therefore superfluous. Furthermore, the invention according to claim 2 ensures that the handlebar can be freely rotated back if the lines in the area between the handlebar and the kite are twisted after one or more turns by the rider or kite. In such a way that the original line guide is restored. The inventive step consists in attaching a rotating element (3) between the trapeze and the connecting links.
