Das Bein befindet sich in einer nach unten gerichteten Lage. Dadurch wirkt ständig eine Kraft nach unten. Die Halteriemen können diese Kräfte nur durch Haftwiderstände an der normalen Bekleidung ausgleichen. Da jedoch keine ausgleichenden Kräfte nach oben entgegenwirken, können die Beinkleider ins Rutschen kommen. Der Nutzer könnte nun die Beinkleider wieder nach oben ziehen, hat jedoch dabei nicht mehr beide Hände am Lenkrad, was die Sicherheit beeinträchtigen könnte. Damit ist das Anlegen umständlich und es kann zu Verwechslungen zwischen dem linken und rechten Beinteil kommen. Beide Ausführungen haben den Nachteil, daß das Schuhteil eine Sohle besitzt. Diese Sohle kommt mit dem Schmutz der Straße in Kontakt und kann dazu führen, daß beim Zusammenlegen das Beinteil schmutzig wird, das wiederum bei erneutem Anlegen die Hose beschmutzen kann. Beide Ausführungen haben den Nachteil, daß sie bei seitlich einfallendem Regen nicht schützen. Ebenso haben beide den Nachteil, daß sie im unteren Teil des Unterschenkels hinten offen sind und damit weite Hosenbeine in die Kette gelangen können. Regenüberzüge gemäß DE 44 12 684 haben seitlich angebrachte Ablaufrinnen aus formstabilen Material um den gewünschten Querschnitt beizubehalten. Dies hat jedoch den Nachteil, daß beim Treten der halbkreis- oder v-förmige Querschnitt im Kniebereich immer wieder gedehnt und gestreckt wird. Damit müssen zusätzliche Kräfte aufgewandt werden, um diese Verformungen zu erreichen. Außerdem wird an der Verformungsstelle durch das ständige Hin- und Herbiegen das Material stark beansprucht.Rain covers according to DE 44 12 684 are also known.
