Description
1. Beschreibung1. Description
The invention relates to a medical splint for immobilizing an injured knee joint and areas near the knee joint.
It is made of PU foam laminated on both sides, with at least one side having a Velcro structure. The other side of the material is preferably lined with cotton for reasons of comfort and skin compatibility. The edges are hemmed.
Die Bandage besteht aus:The bandage consists of:
1 Oberschenkelmanschette (1)
mit verstellbaren Verschlüssen (la)1 thigh cuff (1)
with adjustable fasteners (la)
1 Unterschenkelmanschette (2)1 lower leg cuff (2)
mit verstellbaren Verschlüssen (2a)with adjustable fasteners (2a)
2 seitlichen Schienen (3)
mit Haftstreifen (3a)2 side rails (3)
with adhesive strip (3a)
1 hintere Schiene (4)1 rear rail (4)
mit Haftstreifen (4a)
4 zirkuläre Gurte (5)with adhesive strip (4a)
4 circular straps (5)
mit Haftstreifen (5 a)with adhesive strip (5 a)
und Schlaufen (5b)and loops (5b)
Funktion:Function:
The thigh cuff (1) is placed around the patient's leg and adjusted using sewn-in Velcro. The cuff (1) is anatomically shaped and leaves the knee joint free. The lower leg cuff (2) is also anatomically shaped and is also fixed to the leg using Velcro, leaving the knee joint free. The side (3) and rear rails (4) have an aluminum core and are covered with a polyamide velour cover. Adhesive strips (3a) are attached to one side of each of these rail covers. The aluminum rails can be adjusted to the shape of the patient's leg by hand, without the use of tools. Once the desired shape has been achieved, the rails are pressed onto the adhesive surface of the upper and lower leg cuffs to create a stable rail. To achieve maximum stability, four straps (5) of different lengths are looped in a circle around the cuffs and the vertical rails (3,4). At one end of the straps (5) there are pull-through loops (5b) through which the other strap ends, which have adhesive strips (5a), are pulled tight and closed. To avoid having to hold these straps (5) with both hands when putting them on, there is an approx. 15 cm long adhesive Velcro strip on the side facing the body directly behind the pull-through loop (5b). This is pressed onto the thigh or lower leg cuff, overlapping a side rail, and fixed in place.
By equipping the knee brace with adhesive fasteners, the patient can easily adjust the tightness of the circular fit, depending on whether he is lying down or walking.
Problem:Problem:
After injuries and surgical interventions on the knee joints and areas near the knee joints, patients are provided with splints that replace a plaster cast. These have the advantage that they can be removed without effort and are lightweight, are available at any time and are inexpensive due to series production. Splints, so-called orthoses, are desired that are as universally designed as possible and can be easily adapted to the patient's figuration while offering maximum safety.
The splint described here meets the requirements in that it can be used on the left and right and is universally applicable for all leg sizes and shapes. It offers a high level of safety in immobilizing the injured leg and is extremely comfortable to wear.
Vorteile:Advantages:
Because the splint is universally adaptable, only minimal storage is required. A splint can be fitted within a few minutes to match a custom-made fitting. The fitting is therefore very cost-effective.
