1. Description

The invention relates to a medical bandage for immobilizing an injured arm or shoulder.

It preferably consists of a PU foam laminated on both sides, whereby at least one side of the material must have a Velcro structure. The other side of the material is coated with cotton for skin compatibility reasons.

The bandage consists of

Function:

The waist belt (1) is wrapped around the patient and fastened with the Velcro fasteners (la) so that the shoulder belt (2) lies at the back at the level of the spine. The forearm on the injured side is placed in the forearm cuff (5). The shoulder belt (2) is guided forwards over the shoulder of the uninjured side and pulled through the loop (5a) of the forearm cuff (5), guided back up and fastened with the sewn-in Velcro strip (2b). The neck pad (2a) lies in the neck area. The patient's injured arm forms an angle of approximately 90° at the elbow joint. The upper arm cuff (3) is placed around the upper arm on the injured side and fastened with the sewn-in Velcro strip in such a way that the two Velcro strips (3a), which can be rotated through 360°, lie on the inside of the arm, i.e. facing the body. These two Velcro strips (3a) are now chained to the waist belt, depending on the desired direction of pull, to prevent the upper arm from spreading. A double-sided Velcro strip (7) is inserted between the forearm cuff and the waist belt and the two parts are lightly pressed together. This fixes the forearm cuff (5) immovably to the waist belt (1), which counteracts rotation of the arm. So that the patient can move his forearm and hand for exercise purposes, provided the injury allows it, the loop (5a) on the forearm cuff (5) must be opened without having to change the rest of the bandage. To achieve complete fixation of the forearm/hand, the fixation belt (6) is stretched over the forearm cuff and attached to the waist belt (1).

2. Problem:
