Device for presenting frames for pictures I. Area of application

The invention relates to a device for presenting frames or parts of frames for pictures and can be used by a picture framer when advising customers.

II. Technical background

It is well known that picture framers, when advising customers on the choice of frame for their picture, use the following method: the picture in question is placed on the surface of a table and parts of different frames are positioned on the picture to be framed. To make it easier for the customer to imagine how the framed picture will ultimately look on the wall,

Picture framers use a mirror that you position on or on your work table and place it in such a way that the reflection of the picture along with the attached frame parts can be viewed in a vertical plane, i.e. as if the picture were already hanging on the wall.
However, with this method of working, advice is only possible in the framer's specially equipped workshop.

III. Description of the invention

a) Technical task

The invention is therefore based on the object of creating a device for presenting frames or frame parts for pictures, which enables the picture framer to receive advice in the form of presentations of frames for pictures in the manner described above, even outside his workshop.

b) Solution to the task

The object is achieved by a device for presenting frames / frame parts for pictures according to the features of patent claim 1; the subordinate

Patent claims disclose further developments or advantageous embodiments of the invention.

The advantages of the device for presenting images according to the invention are in particular that
- frames can be tested for visual perception, e.g. on a wall, before their final completion in a simple, time-saving and convenient manner;

- the framer or the customer can try out which frame, which glass or which mount fits the picture while looking at the picture shown vertically;

- the device is transportable, whereby it can be folded up into a kind of suitcase or similar object that is easy to transport;

- the lighting for the image to be viewed is essentially provided directly on the device, so that false light (side light, side light) is excluded from the selection;

- in a further development of the invention, the luminous intensity of the lighting is variable, whereby according to another development at least one additional light can be positioned on the device, with which, in addition to the existing room lighting or instead of it, a light cone directed essentially at the picture, its frame or the area immediately adjacent to the picture can be simulated

By changing the lighting conditions (luminosity), customers and framers can easily see which frame suits the picture or the environment in which the picture will later be hung. To change the luminosity, a dimmer connected upstream of the light can be used, for example. When using the additional light, two swiveling halogen lights are preferably provided, one to the left and one to the right of the main light, which can be attached to the cover of the device, preferably to its inside.

The invention is explained in more detail below in terms of its design features as well as its handling using an embodiment shown schematically in drawings.

In the invention, picture framing and the objects associated with it are to be understood as frame parts, entire frames, glass for picture frames, passepartouts and patterns of surfaces - backgrounds such as wallpaper, wall hangings and the like, which will be on the wall on which the finished framed picture will later be hung or placed.

The device consists of at least one substantially flat plate 9 (base body) with an inner bottom 9a.

This plate 9 has a substantially rectangular basic shape, preferred in this embodiment, with a front area (surface) 9', a rear area (surface) 9" and lateral areas (side surfaces) 9 ¹ " adjacent to these 9' and 9". The device also includes a substantially flat mirror 2 which, either by itself or enclosed in a frame, corresponds to the external dimensions of the flat plate 9 and forms the cover of the device. The rear area (surface) 2" of the mirror 2 or of its frame is connected to the rear surface 9" of the plate 9 in an articulated manner. A so-called piano hinge can be used as a joint, for example. In the position of use, the mirror 2 is positioned upwards in an inclined position (approximately or equal to 45°) relative to the plate 9, which has previously been brought into a substantially horizontal working position. Rastomat is used, which is/are arranged rotatably at least on the plate 9 or on the mirror 2, or on its frame 2a.

Depending on the size of the device, gas pressure dampers can be used for the intended Rastomat 7 instead of extendable and lockable support struts, which has the additional advantage that the lid is easier for the framer to open and close.

Preferably, in this embodiment, it is also provided that in the folded position, i.e. the transport position, the lower flat plate 9 and the mirror 2 or the mirror frame are spaced apart from one another by a surrounding frame 3. Preferably, it is also provided that the frame 3 is separated in the area of the side surfaces 9'" approximately at the height of the length bisector, so that when the mirror 2 (lid) is folded up, there are no frame elements in the front area of the plate 9, which is in the horizontal and downward working position, so that the picture framer has easy access to the inner base 9a of the plate 9.

As can also be seen from Figure 1, holding strips 10 are attached at least in sections in the area of the base 9a towards the outer edge. The picture framer can place different backgrounds, e.g. surfaces, pieces of wallpaper, wall coverings, etc., under these holding strips 10 one after the other under the picture to be viewed in a simple and quick manner during presentation; details can be seen in Figure 3.

The mirror 2 should, if possible, cover the entire base area of the lid. It is attached to the lid in such a way that it can be quickly replaced, e.g. with attached strips that can be locked in place with a type of bayonet lock. However, it is also conceivable that at least the strips are secured against accidental loosening with a screw each. The area covered by the strips and lying underneath them can also be used as a cable duct for the power supply to the light or lights. The light for illuminating the viewing area, the space between plate 9 and raised mirror 2, is arranged on the inside on the front surface 2' of the lid. A cover strip 11 is provided as glare protection. The details of this are shown in Figure 3, a detail from Figure 1 in a sectional view.

In order to achieve the highest possible light output, the cover strip 11 is additionally provided with a mirror strip in its inner area.

A further variant of the invention, not shown in the figures, consists in the frame being provided all the way around the lid without any separation, i.e. the plate is therefore without a frame. In this version, the lid is also attached to the plate in a rotatable manner using a piano hinge or several folding hinges.

The device, which forms a case when folded up, can also be used as a storage space for the various cables, backgrounds, sample corners and passe-partout cutouts. This means that no additional bag or similar is required for transporting these items to the presentation location.

In the drawings, a locking device which locks the lid and the plate together for the purpose of transport is not shown, since this is of a known type and is arranged on the device in the usual manner.

Claims (11)

1. Device for presenting frames or parts of frames for pictures, comprising at least one substantially flat plate ( 9 ) which can be placed on a body, e.g. a table or the like, and a mirror ( 2 ), as well as means ( 7 ) for selectively inclining the mirror ( 2 ) with respect to the upper surface ( 9a ) of the flat plate ( 9 ), characterized in that the plate ( 9 ) and the mirror ( 2 ) are connected to one another in an articulated manner. 2. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the articulated connection is optionally detachable. 3. Device according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the means ( 7 ) for inclining the mirror ( 2 ) are arranged in an articulated manner at least on the plate ( 9 ) or at least on the mirror ( 2 ). 4. Device according to claim 3, characterized in that the articulated arrangement of the means ( 7 ) for inclining is selectively detachable. 5. Device according to at least one of the preceding claims, characterized in that at least one means for illuminating (illuminating) the space located between the bottom ( 9a ) of the plate ( 9 ) and the erected mirror ( 2 ) is arranged on the device. 6. Device according to claim 5, characterized in that the means for illumination is a lamp ( 6 ) arranged on the inner side of the front surface ( 2 ') of the lid. 7. Device according to at least one of the preceding claims 5 and 6, characterized in that the lamp ( 6 ) is a halogen lamp. 8. Device according to at least one of the preceding claims 5 to 7, characterized in that at least one further lamp is assigned to the one means for illumination. 9. Device according to claim 8, characterized in that the further lamp is movable in several directions and can be optionally locked. 10. Device according to at least one of the preceding claims, characterized in that a retaining strip ( 10 ) is provided on the bottom ( 9a ) of the plate ( 9 ), at its ( 9a ) inner edge region, at least on one side. 11. Device according to claim 10, characterized in that the retaining strip is provided on three sides of the base ( 9a ), at least in sections.
