Orthopaedic walking aids of conventional design in various designs have only a rubber cap (part 7) with a diameter of about 4 cm at their lower end. See Appendix 3, Position No. 1

Problem:

Crutches cannot simply be put down. The diameter of the rubber cap is too small to allow them to be put aside safely. They do not stay on these caps, but tip over because they are not balanced. Therefore, they must be leaned against a suitable place (they usually fall over) or placed on the floor. People who depend on crutches have difficulties doing housework, for example. Their hands are not free to open doors, pick up objects or do work.

Commonly used fastening clamps for clamping crutches only provide help in a specific location and limit the range of action. The existing versions of stands for crutches are heavy, large and difficult to handle.

This invention significantly expands and simplifies the options for people who depend on walking aids. They can leave the walking aids free-standing anywhere without them falling over. This is also a significant advantage for people who cannot bend down or who have difficulty bending down. It also allows them to use their hands for other activities if necessary.

The outstanding distinguishing features are a low additional weight of less than 60 grams per walking aid, and the smallest dimensions, reduced to the bare minimum. Another distinguishing feature is the safe operation, which is easy and effortless for disabled people.

The most obvious distinguishing feature is the automatic closing of the tripod legs.

It is easy to operate: by pressing down part 2 with your hand or foot, the tripod is opened to the "park" position and can then be easily and safely parked. See Appendix 3, position no. 1. When the walking aid is used again, the tripod legs part no. 6 automatically fold back to the "walk" position. See Appendix 3, position no. 2

Claims (4)

1. Folding tripod for walking aids (cane, crutch) consisting of a movable retaining ring ( 2 ), a fixed retaining ring ( 3 ), a support strut ( 4 ), annular spring ( 5 ), tripod leg ( 6 ), stop sleeve ( 8 ) and the hinge bolt ( 9 ), whereby the annular spring ( 5 ) attached to the folding tripod securely fixes the folding tripod both in the folded-in position ("walking") and in the unfolded position ("parking"). 2. Folding tripod for walking aids (cane, crutch) according to claim 1, characterized in that in the unfolded position ("parking") the walking aid is lifted off the ground and no longer touches the same in order to ensure a secure stand by the three unfolded tripod legs ( 6 ). 3. Folding stand for walking aids (cane, crutches) according to claims 1 and 2, characterized in that it can be subsequently attached to conventional walking aids. 4. Folding stand for walking aids (canes, crutches) according to claims 1, 2 and 3, characterized in that no aids (levers, mechanisms, ropes, etc.) are required to close the folding stand. It is sufficient to use the walking aid in the parking position for further use. The folding stand closes fully automatically in the position ("walking").
