Equipping the fire extinguisher with the luminescent plastic corners requires the manufacture, provision and installation of special components.

The present invention is based on a fire extinguisher, in particular a hand-held fire extinguisher with an extinguishing agent container, a fitting and a valve for controlling the discharge of the extinguishing agent, and its object is to equip such a fire extinguisher in a particularly simple manner with means which facilitate its recognition in the dark W or make it possible in the first place.

The invention solves this problem with the features of claim 1 and is particularly characterized in that at least text and/or image elements of at least one of the text fields consist of a color that has luminescent properties.

To solve the problem, the invention uses measures that are partly necessary anyway, namely the application of a label on the extinguishing agent container and making this ink luminescent for at least some of the text and/or image elements.

Accordingly, due to the present invention, the effort to make a conventional fire extinguisher recognizable in the dark is limited to making the paint to be applied luminescent for labeling as also provided for by the standard.

In a further development of the inventive concept, it is provided that at least the text and/or image elements for instructions on how to use the fire extinguisher are made of a color that has luminescent properties. This means that the fire extinguisher can be seen not only in the dark,

recognizable and easy to find, but you can also immediately see how to handle it without special lighting.

In a further development, it is intended that all labelling elements prescribed in DIN EN 3 consist of a colour that has luminescent properties.

A particularly simple and highly effective preferred embodiment is characterized by the fact that the entire lettering on the fire extinguisher consists of a color that has luminescent properties. This makes it possible to apply all the lettering elements to the fire extinguisher at the same time with a single coat of paint. There is also the additional advantage that the entire amount of paint applied glows in the dark, meaning the luminous intensity is particularly high.

The ink can contain a luminescent pigment and be screen-printed onto the extinguishing agent container. The mixing ratio of white screen-printing ink to luminescent pigment is preferably in the order of 100:100 g to 100:150 g.

A particularly suitable luminescent paint consists of a mixture of a white screen printing ink and a luminescent pigment, such as that available under the name Leutalux N1 Green/SP from Leuchtmittel GmbH in Heidelberg.

Furthermore, the invention is best understood from the following description of an embodiment shown in the drawing. The only figure in the drawing shows a hand-held fire extinguisher in elevation.

The hand-held fire extinguisher, designated as a whole by 10, has a steel extinguishing agent container 11, to the top of which a fitting 12 is attached. In the exemplary embodiment, this comprises a push button 13, which can be pressed down after a safety element 14 has been removed. The spindle of the push button 13 then pierces a valve in a CCb cartridge, which pressurizes the extinguishing agent in the extinguishing agent container 11. This type of fire extinguisher is known as a recharge extinguisher. The pressurized extinguishing agent then reaches the extinguishing agent hose 15, which is provided with a pistol-like lever valve 16 at the end. When the release lever 17 is pressed down, the extinguishing agent comes out of a nozzle 18 at the end and can be directed at the source of the fire.

As the figure also shows, the extinguishing agent container 11 has a label marked 19 in total. This consists of individual label fields 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25. Some of these label fields are prescribed by the standard, for which reference is made to DIN EN 3. Among other things, the label field marked 21 in the figure must contain the word "fire extinguisher" as well as the type of extinguishing agent and its nominal filling quantity. Label field 22 must contain the operating instructions with information texts and easy-to-understand, self-explanatory pictograms.

Preferably, it is at least provided that this labeling field 22 is applied to the extinguishing agent container 11 using luminescent paint.

The most preferred embodiment, however, is to execute the entire labeling, i.e. all labeling fields 20 to 25, in self-luminous color.

As the figure also shows, the labeling fields 20 to 25 take up a not inconsiderable proportion of the visible surface of the extinguishing agent container 11 of the fire extinguisher 10, so that the luminescent effect is very pronounced in the sense of the problem underlying the invention.

If the extinguisher type 'rechargeable extinguisher' was mentioned in the description of the embodiment, this is irrelevant for the invention, since any fire extinguisher can be equipped with a luminescent function according to the invention.

Claims (7)

1. Fire extinguisher ( 10 ), in particular a hand-held fire extinguisher with an extinguishing agent container ( 11 ), a fitting ( 12 ) and a valve ( 16 ) for controlling the discharge of the extinguishing agent, and with a label ( 19 ) applied to the extinguishing agent container ( 11 ), which label comprises prescribed and optional label fields ( 22-25 ) which contain text and/or image elements, characterized in that at least text and/or image elements of at least one of the label fields (e.g. 21) consist of a color which has luminescent properties. 2. Fire extinguisher according to claim 1, characterized in that at least the text and/or image elements (e.g. 22) for instructing the operation of the fire alarm ( 10 ) consist of a color which has luminescent properties. 3. Fire extinguisher according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that all labeling elements prescribed in DIN EN 3 (e.g. 22) 20 -25) consist of a color which has luminescent properties. 4. Fire extinguisher according to claim 1, characterized in that the entire lettering ( 20-25 ) of the fire extinguisher ( 10 ) consists of a paint which has luminescent properties. 5. Fire extinguisher according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the paint contains a luminescent pigment. 6. Fire extinguisher according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the inscription is applied to the extinguishing agent container by screen printing using a paint mixed with a luminescent pigment. 7. Fire extinguisher according to claim 5 or 6, characterized by a mixing ratio of white screen printing ink to luminescent pigment of about 100:100 g to 100:150 g.
