Im Fall einer längerfristigen Verriegelung des Briefkastens kann der Hausbewohner die persönlich adressierte Post umleiten bzw. am Postamt deponieren lassen. Unerwünschte Postwurfsendungen od. dgl. können während dieses Zeitraums nicht in den Briefkasten geworfen werden. Die Zeitsteuerung kann beispielsweise durch eine analoge oder digitale Zeitschaltuhr gebildet sein. Fig. 1 zeigt schematisch einen Briefkasten 1, der mit einer Einwurföffnung 2 versehen ist. Erfindungsgemäß ist an der Einwurföffhung 2 eine Verriegelung 3 angeordnet, der mit einer Zeitsteuerung 4 verbunden ist. An der Zeitsteuerung 4 werden jene Intervalle vorprogrammiert, in welchen die Einwurföffhung 2 offenbar sein soll. In diesen Zeiträumen wird die Verriegelung 3 derart angesteuert, daß eine Entriegelung der Einwurföffhung 2 stattfindet. Die Zeitsteuerung 4 ist vorteilhafterweise elektronisch ausgeführt und mit einer Spannungsversorgung 5, welche durch Batterien oder Akkumulatoren gebildet werden kann, um vom öffentlichen Spannungsnetz unabhängig zu sein, verbunden. Um ein Öffnen der Einwurföffhung 2 auch außerhalb der durch die Zeitsteuerung 4 zugelassenen Intervalle zu ermöglichen, kann ein von außen betätigbares Bedienungselement 6, beispielsweise ein Taster od. dgl., vorgesehen sein, welches mit der Zeitsteuerung 4 verbunden ist. Bei Betätigung des Bedienungselements 6 wird nach Verstreichen einer vorgegebenen Zeitdauer, wie z.B. 10 bis 50 sek., die Verriegelung 3 für kurze Zeit entriegelt, sodaß die Einwurföffnung 2 kurzzeitig offenbar ist. Dies dient dazu, daß wichtige Post, welche außerhalb der üblichen Zustellzeiten des Briefträgers angeliefert wird, in den Briefkasten 1 geworfen werden kann, wenn die Zustellperson die jeweilige Zeit, welche nach Betätigung des Bedienungselementes 6 verstreicht, abwartet. Für einen Werbematerialausträger ist ein Warten bei jedem Briefkasten 1 zum Einwurf der Werbung nicht effizient, deshalb die erfindungsgemäße Einrichtung einen wirkungsvollen Schutz gegen unerwünschtes Post- und Informationsmaterial darstellt. Eine optische Anzeige 7 kann diverse Betriebszustände des erfindungsgemäßen Briefkastens 1 darstellen. Auch über eine akustische Anzeige 8 ist die Wiedergabe von bestimmten Informationen möglich. Vorteilhafterweise ist die Anordnung durch eine zentrale Steuerung 9, wie z.B. einen Mikrokontroller oder Mikroprozessor gesteuert. Über eine derartige Steuerung 9 können verschiedene Abläufe vorgegeben werden. Weiters kann eine Einrichtung 10 zur Überprüfung der Zugriffsberechtigung, beispielsweise ein Kartenleser, angeordnet sein, welcher unter der Voraussetzung der entsprechenden Chipkarte oder Magnetkarte die Öffnung der Einwurföffnung 2 durch autorisiertes Personal ermöglicht.
