Verklebt man den Dekorbezug vollflächig mit der Tragplatte, so ergibt sich eine ungewollte Verstärkung und Verfestigung der Abdeckung über der Durchtrittsöffnung des Airbags, so daß der Austritt des Airbags behindert wird. Das ist insbesondere zu befürchten, wenn der Dekorbezug aus verhältnismäßig stabilem Leder besteht. Verklebt man den Dekorbezug hingegen nicht mit der Tragplatte, so ergeben sich im Bereich von deren konkav gewölbter Oberfläche unschöne Beulen und Falten, wenn der Dekorbezug locker angebracht wird. Wird der Dekorbezug demgegenüber straff gespannt, ergibt sich ein von dem Dekorbezug überspannter Hohlraum zwischen dem Dekorbezug und der konkaven Oberfläche der Tragplatte.Such a covering element is known, for example, from DE 195 05 214 C2.
