Downpipe insert

The invention relates to a downpipe insert according to the preamble of claim 1.

The clogging of downpipes, which carry rainwater from the gutter to the ground, by leaves is a particularly annoying problem. While leaves in the gutter can be removed by hand, a blocked downpipe requires a long wire or something similar to be inserted into the downpipe from above to loosen the blocked area. The loosened leaves can then be removed by hand after removing a downpipe segment. This is laborious.

The object of the invention is therefore to provide a device which ensures that the leaves collect in a downpipe at an accessible location.

This object is achieved by a downpipe insert according to claim 1.

The downpipe insert according to the invention creates access to the downpipe in its fall path. Furthermore, a collecting basket, which is inserted at, preferably just below the access, ensures that leaves collect in one place from which they can be easily removed. The introduction of a long wire or something similar through the opening of the downpipe on the gutter or on the ground is therefore unnecessary.

The subclaims represent expedient further developments of the downpipe insert.

With a downpipe insert according to claim 2, the leaves and other retained contaminants can be disposed of particularly easily, since the collecting basket is removed as a whole together with the contaminants.

The collecting basket of claim 3 ensures that water can flow downwards from it as long as the leaves in the collecting basket are not yet so dense that no more water can pass through downwards, but leaves do not reach sections of the downpipe and the sewerage system behind the collecting basket.

By using a collecting basket according to claim 4, water can escape from the sides of the collecting basket, even if the passage downwards is already blocked.

The collecting basket of claim 5 allows a particularly practical accommodation in the downpipe insert.

The movable closing sleeve of claim 6 ensures that the access opening of the bridge section can be closed and thus the rainwater that flows down the inner circumference of the downpipe does not escape from it. When the downpipe insert is open, the closing sleeve sits (preferably by friction) on the upper insert section.

The annular bead of the locking sleeve of claim 7 increases its rigidity and forms a gripping aid.

The preferably soldered sleeve part of claim 8 is advantageous with regard to a tight closure of the removal opening.

According to claim 9, a defined closing position of the locking sleeve is obtained without the risk of jamming.

The corrugated connection section of claim 10 at the lower end of the downpipe insert allows an easy connection to another section of the downpipe.

The invention is explained in more detail below using an embodiment with reference to the drawing. In this drawing:

Figure 1 is a cross-sectional view of a downpipe insert with a front-facing maintenance opening and an inserted collecting basket;

Figure 2 is a side view of the downpipe insert according to Figure 1, with the collecting basket being removed; and

A downpipe insert 10 has a lower insert section 12, an upper insert section 14 and a bridge section 16 in between which defines a maintenance opening 18. The downpipe insert can be made of various materials, for example galvanized sheet metal, copper sheet metal, stainless steel or plastic. When using sheet metal, the longitudinal edges of the blank are connected in the usual way by a longitudinal fold (not shown in the drawing) so that a cylindrical pipe is obtained.

which is large enough that a collecting basket 3 0 can be removed through it. To close the maintenance opening 18, the downpipe insert has a closing sleeve 24 which can be moved frictionally on the upper insert section 14. It has a lower annular bead 26 which, when closed, sits on a sleeve part 2 0 which is soldered to the lower insert section 12 at the level of the beginning of the bridge section 16 and serves as a stop and sealing part.

The collecting basket 30 has a peripheral wall 34 with sieve openings 36 and a bottom wall 38 with sieve openings 40. The sieve openings 36 are larger than the sieve openings 40.

The sieve openings 36 and 40 can be circular, as shown in the drawing. However, they can also have the shape of rectangles or, preferably, squares. This allows the area of the sieves to be better filled with sieve openings, and the production of the sieve openings by punching is also more economical with rectangular or square geometries.

Furthermore, the collecting basket 3 0 has a curved strip-shaped handle 32 which has such a width

that it fits through a sieve opening 3 6. The handle 32 is bent and guided through two sieve openings 3 6 in such a way that its angled ends form opposing centering arms 42. 30

The lower end of the downpipe insert 10 has a corrugated connection section 22 of reduced diameter for easy connection to another underlying segment of a downpipe (not shown). 35

The downpipe insert described above works as follows:

In the normal state, the closing sleeve 24 is pushed over the removal opening 18 and sits with its end section located under the annular bead 26 in the annular space which is delimited by the outside of the bridge section 16 and the inside of the sleeve part 20. The maintenance opening 16 is thus closed with the tightness usual for downpipe plug connections. Water flowing downwards in the downpipe insert runs into the downpipe segment below, with solids such as leaves or needles being retained in the collecting basket 3 0.

By pushing up the locking sleeve 24, the filling level of the collecting basket 3 0 can be easily checked at intervals.

After removing the collecting basket 3 0 by its handle through the maintenance opening 16, the basket contents can then be easily disposed of in a waste container.

The collecting basket 3 0 is then reinserted into the downpipe insert 10, whereby it is forced radially positioned by the two angled end sections 42 so that its peripheral wall 34 is spaced from the inside of the downpipe insert 10, so that water can flow unhindered through the sieve openings 3 6 when the sieve openings 40 are newly blocked.

Claims (10)

1. Downpipe insert for a rainwater-draining downpipe, characterized by a lower insert section ( 12 ), an upper insert section ( 14 ), a bridge section ( 16 ) located between these insert sections ( 12 , 14 ) with a maintenance opening ( 18 ) and a collecting basket ( 30 ) accessible through the maintenance opening ( 18 ). 2. Downpipe insert according to claim 1, characterized in that the collecting basket ( 30 ) can be removed through the maintenance opening ( 18 ). 3. Downpipe insert according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the collecting basket ( 30 ) has a bottom wall ( 38 ) with round and/or rectangular, in particular square, sieve openings ( 40 ). 4. Downpipe insert according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the collecting basket ( 30 ) has a peripheral wall ( 34 ) with round and/or rectangular, in particular square, sieve openings ( 36 ). 5. Downpipe insert according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the collecting basket ( 30 ) has centner arms ( 42 ) which preferably sit on an upper edge ( 44 ) of the lower insert section ( 12 ). 6. Downpipe insert according to one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that it has a closing sleeve ( 24 ) as a displaceable closure for the maintenance opening. 7. Downpipe insert according to one of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the closing sleeve ( 24 ) has an annular bead ( 26 ). 8. Downpipe insert according to one of claims 1 to 7, characterized in that it has a preferably soldered sleeve part ( 20 ) which cooperates as a sealing part with the lower end of the closing sleeve ( 24 ). 9. Downpipe insert according to claim 8, characterized in that the sleeve part ( 24 ) forms a stop for the annular bead ( 20 ) of the closing sleeve ( 24 ). 10. Downpipe insert according to one of claims 1 to 9, characterized in that the lower insert section ( 12 ) has a circumferentially corrugated connection section ( 22 ) at the lower end.
