Seat pan

The invention relates to a seat tub for medical purposes, in particular for hydrotherapy, consisting of a shaped body in the manner of an armchair with a seat part, a back support part, and arm or forearm supports on both sides, wherein the front edge region of the shaped body facing away from the back support part projects upwards over the seat surface, so that the seat part together with the parts surrounding the seat part, namely the arm or forearm supports, the back support part and the front edge region forms a tub shape for holding liquid.

Such seat tubs are known in the state of the art. They are used for hydrotherapy, for example, but are also suitable for cleaning people and

In the previously known seat pans of this type, the seat surface is designed as a substantially flat, possibly slightly inclined surface. If a person to be treated sits on the seat, the area of the person lying on the seat is not accessible for cleaning or therapy purposes with liquid or manually, whereby in particular the body openings of the person sitting on the seat are not accessible to the liquid medium that is in the seat pan.

This is where the invention aims to remedy the situation.

To achieve this object, the invention proposes that the seat part has a channel between two support surfaces for the two buttocks of a person which is recessed relative to the support surfaces and is open at the top, which channel merges into a first extension at the first end of the seat part, which is adjacent to the back support part, and which merges into a second extension at the second end of the seat part, which is adjacent to the front edge region.

This design ensures that the user of the seat pan, who sits on the seat part, only touches it with a part of his physical seat surface, whereby this surface extends around the ischial spine of the user's two buttocks. All other surfaces of the body part that is in the seat pan are accessible to the liquid medium that is in the seat pan, whereby in particular rinsing of body openings or the like can be carried out in a simple manner. In addition, the channel that is open at the top can also be accessed for cleaning purposes, particularly in the area of the first and second extensions.

The drawing shows a seat tub for medical purposes, in particular for hydrotherapy. It consists of a shaped body in the manner of an armchair with a seat part 1, a back support part 2 and arm or forearm supports 3 on both sides, with the front edge area 4 of the shaped body facing away from the back support part 2 protruding upwards over the seat surface, so that the seat part 1 together with the parts surrounding the seat part 1, namely the arm or forearm supports 3, the back support part 2 and the front edge area 4, forms a tub shape for holding liquid. In order to cover as few body surfaces or body openings as possible with the seat surface 1 when a person is sitting on it, the seat part 1 is provided with a channel 6 for the buttocks of a person between two support surfaces, which are indicated at 5, which is recessed relative to the support surfaces and open at the top. This channel 6 merges into a first extension 7, which is formed near the first end of the seat part 1, which is adjacent to the back support part 2. At the other end of the channel, a second extension 8 is formed, which is adjacent to the front edge region 4. The channel 6 preferably has a width,

which corresponds approximately to the width of a human hand. In the exemplary embodiment, the channel width is approximately 90 mm. The channel has an average depth of approximately 75 to 90 mm. The first extension 7 runs transversely to the longitudinal extension of the channel and forms a T-shaped recess with the channel. This first extension 7 has a length (transversely to the seat surface) which corresponds approximately to three times the width of the channel 6. It has a width (seen in the longitudinal direction of the seat extension) which is equal to or only slightly smaller than the channel width of the channel 6.

The second extension 8 forms an oval shape, the longer axis of which is coaxial with the central longitudinal axis of the channel 6. The oval extension has a length that corresponds to approximately three times the channel width, while its width corresponds to approximately twice the channel width. To empty the seat pan, a drain opening can be provided at the bottom of the channel or at the bottom of one of the extensions 7 or 8, which is arranged at the lowest point of the entire channel system for complete drainage.

As can be seen in Figure 2, the arm or forearm support 3 has a higher first region 10 starting from the backrest support part 2, which connects via a step to a second lower region 11. The handle 9 is provided in the low region 11.

The front edge region 4 is preferably formed by a rounded edge and an adjoining connecting surface 12 that slopes down at an angle to the seat part 1. The front edge region has a width that corresponds approximately to half the width of the channel. The connecting surface 12 has a length from the edge region to the transition into the seat part 1 that is approximately equal to the channel width. This design improves the user's seating comfort.

The seat pan as a whole can be a one-piece molded part made of plastic, for example acrylic glass.

In the example shown, the molded part extends to the contact surface. However, it is also possible to make the molded body less high and to place feet or

to arrange other supports.

The invention provides a seat tub for medical purposes, in particular for hydrotherapy, in which intensive rinsing or the like of all body parts and in particular all body openings of the person sitting in the seat tub is made possible in a simple manner. In addition, the extensions and the channel that leads into the extension allow good access to the body openings of the person sitting therein, so that easy cleaning of the corresponding body parts is also possible.

The invention is not limited to the embodiment, but is variable in many ways within the scope of the disclosure.

All new individual and combination features disclosed in the description and/or drawing are considered essential to the invention.

Claims (17)

1. Seat tub for medical purposes, in particular for hydrotherapy, consisting of a shaped body in the manner of an armchair with a seat part (1), a back support part (2), and arm or forearm rests (3) on both sides, wherein the front edge region (4) of the shaped body facing away from the back support part (2) projects upwards over the seat surface (1), so that the seat part (1) together with the parts surrounding the seat part (1), namely the arm or forearm rests (3), the back support part (2) and the front edge region (4) forms a tub shape for receiving liquid, characterized in that the seat part (1) has a channel (6) between two support surfaces (5) for the buttocks of a person, which channel is recessed at the top and is open relative to the support surfaces (5), which preferably merges into a first extension (7) at the first end of the seat part (1), which is adjacent to the back support part (2), and/or which preferably merges into a second extension (8) at the second end of the seat part (1), which is adjacent to the front edge region (4). 2. Seat pan according to claim 1, characterized in that the channel (6) has a width which corresponds approximately to the width of a human hand. 3. Seat pan according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the channel (6) has a width of approximately 90 mm. 4. Seat pan according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the channel (6) has an average depth of approximately 75 to 90 mm. 5. Seat pan according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the first extension (7) runs transversely to the longitudinal extension of the channel and forms a T-shaped recess with the channel (6). 6. Seat pan according to claim 5, characterized in that the first extension (7) has a length which corresponds approximately to three times the width of the channel (6). 7. Seat pan according to claim 5 or 6, characterized in that the first extension (7) has a width which is equal to or only slightly smaller than the channel width. 8. Seat pan according to one of claims 1 to 7, characterized in that the second extension (8) forms an oval shape whose longer axis runs coaxially to the central longitudinal axis of the channel (6). 9. Seat pan according to claim 8, characterized in that the oval second extension (8) has a length which corresponds approximately to three times the channel width. 10. Seat pan according to claim 8 or 9, characterized in that the oval second extension (8) has a width which corresponds approximately to twice the channel width. 11. Seat pan according to one of claims 1 to 10, characterized in that the channel (6) or one of the extensions (7, 8) has a drain opening at the lowest point. 12. Seat pan according to one of claims 1 to 11, characterized in that handles (9) are arranged on the arm or forearm supports (3). 13. Seat pan according to one of claims 1 to 12, characterized in that the arm or forearm support (3) has a higher first region (10) starting from the back support part (2) and a lower second region (11) towards the free end, wherein a handle (9) is preferably arranged in the second region (11). 14. Seat pan according to one of claims 1 to 13, characterized in that the front edge region (4) has an optionally rounded edge and adjoining thereto a connecting surface (12) which slopes down obliquely to the seat part (1) and merges into the latter. 15. Seat pan according to claim 14, characterized in that the front edge region (4) has a width which corresponds approximately to half the channel width. 16. Seat pan according to claim 14, characterized in that the connecting surface (12) from the edge region to the seat part (1) has a length which is approximately equal to the channel width. 17. Seat pan according to one of claims 1 to 16, characterized in that the seat pan is a one-piece molded part made of plastic, in particular acrylic glass.
