Claims

1. Mattress with an elastically deformable mattress body ( 10 to 14 ), characterized in that the mattress body ( 10 to 14 ) has at least one lying area ( 20 ) of reduced height and/or reduced rigidity in the shoulder/arm area.

2. Mattress according to claim 1, characterized in that the lying area ( 20 ) of reduced height and/or reduced rigidity has a width of about 15 to about 25 cm.

3. Mattress according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the lying area ( 20 ) of reduced height and/or rigidity has a length of about 20 to about 70 cm, preferably about 20 to about 45 cm.

4. Mattress according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the lying area ( 20 ) of reduced height and/or rigidity has a depression ( 22 ) formed in the material of the mattress body ( 10 to 14 ).

5. Mattress according to claim 4, characterized in that an insert body ( 30 ) is arranged in the trough ( 22 ), the material of which has little rigidity compared to the material of the mattress body ( 10 to 14 ).

6. Mattress according to claim 4 or 5, characterized in that the trough ( 22 ) rises towards its edges when viewed in a transverse sectional view and/or a longitudinal sectional view.

7. Mattress according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the lying area ( 20 ) of reduced height and/or reduced rigidity has spring cores ( 50 ) which have low rigidity and/or smaller dimensions than spring cores ( 48 ) provided in the rest of the mattress body ( 10 to 14 ).

Mattress according to one of claims 1 to 7 with a covering ( 16 ) surrounding the mattress body ( 10 to 14 ), characterized in that the covering ( 16 ) has increased flexibility and/or bellows-like folds ( 36 ) and/or increased softness and/or increased elasticity in a section adjacent to the lying area of reduced height and/or reduced rigidity.

Mattress according to one of claims 1 to 8, characterized in that a quilted padding ( 16 ) surrounding the mattress body ( 10 to 14 ) has a larger distance between the quilting seams ( 28 ) in a section surrounding the lying area of reduced height and/or reduced rigidity than in the remaining area ( 18 ).

10. Mattress according to one of claims 1 to 9, characterized in that it has two lying areas ( 20 ) of reduced height and/or reduced rigidity, which are arranged symmetrically to the longitudinal center plane.
