Gegenstand der Neuerung ist ein Fahrradreifen, dessen Mantel, wie bei einem aufgepumpten Luftreifen, überall im gleichen Maße von innen elastisch abgestützt ist. Dies ist durch Ausfüllen des Mantelhohlraumes mit Schwammgummi erreicht. Diese Füllung ist je nach dem Grade der Porosität mehr oder weniger elastisch nachfgiebig. Besonders günstig ist die Wirkung, wenn zwischen dem Mantel und der Schwammgummifüllung eine feste Verbindung, z. B. durch Vulcanisation, hergestellt ist. Dabei ergibt sich an Stellen, an denen der Reifen bei Druckbelastung sich quer zu dieser weitet, auch. eine gewisse Zugbeanspruchung der Schwammgummimasse, so daß die elastischen Eigenschaften des Reifens nicht nur vom Druckwiderstand der Füllung in der Druckrichtung, sondern auch von ihrem Zugwiderstand quer zur Druckrichtung bedingt werden.
