Wird nun eine Person angefahren, so drückt sich ein oder im ungünstigsten Falle zwei Stutzen aus dem Gestänge heraus, worauf die Nebenstücke mit ihren Innenrohren infolge des Luft- oder Federdruckes die Lücken ausfüllen, so daß die gefährdete Person gewissermaßen umschlungen wird und nicht zurückfallen und unter die Räder kommen kann; der Anprall gegen die Stirnseite des Wagens wird dabei zweckmäßig durch ein Schutzgitter e o. dgl. gemildert, das durch Federn f o. dgl. möglichst elastisch wirkt.
