Es ist bereits ein Krankenbett bekanntgeworden (deutsche Patentschrift 811295), bei welchem im mittleren Teil des Bettes die Matratzen mit einer Ausnehmung versehen sind, in die ein besonderer Matratzenteil einsetzbar ist, und zwar von unten her. Zu diesem Zwecke weist der Federrahmen eine entsprechende Ausnehmung auf. Das Absenken und Anheben des Matratzenteils geschieht mittels eines schwenkbar gelagerten Hebels. Nach dem Absenken entsteht eine Öffnung, unter die von der Seite her mittels zweier Führungsschienen das Becken geschoben werden kann.
