Als Flechtmaterial kommen ferner lederartige Kunststoffstreifen oder mit einem Überzug aus biegsamem und schmiegsamem Kunststoff versehene Litzchen in Frage. Wenn das Flechtmaterial nicht elastisch dehnbar ist bzw. keine Gummifäden enthält, können in die Vorware selbst umsponnene Gummifäden von Gummikordeln oder mit Gummimittelenden gearbeiteten Litzchen eingearbeitet werden.
