Schlackenbad, wobei die Breite des Begrenzungsrahmens der Breite der gesamten aufzuschweißenden Werkstückfläche entspricht und der Rahmen während des Schweißens kontinuierlich waagerecht in Schweißrichtung bewegbar ist und zwischen seiner in Schweißrichtung hinten liegenden Breitseite und der Werkstückoberfläche ein Spalt in Höhe der Dicke der Auftragsschicht vorgesehen ist, und wobei eine abschmelzende, bandförmige Elektrode verwendet wird, die während des Schweißens von einer Bandspule abgewickelt wird und deren Breite der Gesamtbreite der aufzutragenden Werkstückfläche bzw. des Begrenzungsrahmens entspricht, nach Patentanmeldung K 38115 VIII d/21 h, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß parallel zu der Bandelektrode (6) mehrere längs einer gemeinsamen schwenkbaren Leiste (5) in vorzugsweise gleichen Abständen nebeneinander angeordnete, an sich bekannte nicht abschmelzende Vorheizelektroden (4) vorgesehen sind, die entweder an getrennte Stromquellen oder über je einen Vorwiderstand an eine gemeinsame Stromquelle angeschlossen sind.
