Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf eine Vorrichtung zum Brotschneiden von Hand, bei welchem Messer und Handgriff durch eine Führungsplatte für die Brotoberfläche getrennt in zwei Ebenen übereinander angeordnet sind. Die bekannten Vorrichtungen dieser Art haben sich in der Praxis nicht eingeführt, offenbar weil sie nicht gestatten, daß die Brotschnitten frei und unverquetscht austreten. Dies ist teils auf unzweckmäßige Ausgestaltung der Führungsplatte, teils auf mangelnde sichere Halterung des Messers zurückzuführen. Die Erfindung beruht auf der Erkenntnis, daß die abgetrennte Brotscheibe sich freischneiden muß, damit die Scheiben selbst bei frischem Brot frei und unverquetscht aus der Vorrichtung austreten können. Erfindungsgemäß wird hierzu vorgeschlagen, in der Führungsplatte, in Schnittrichtung gesehen, vor dem Messer eine Stufe anzuordnen. Vorzugsweise wird diese Stufe in Form eines rinnenartigen Wulstes angeordnet. An der dem Handgriff abgekehrten Seite der Führungsplatte werden Führungsböcke zur Aufnahme von höhenverstellbaren Blöcken vorgesehen. Diese dienen als Träger für das schräg zur Schnittrichtung stehende Messer, dessen Schneide in bekannter Weise mit einem Wellenschliff versehen ist. Eine solche Vorrichtung erfüllt alle gestellten Forderungen, was die einfache Art der Herstellung als auch der Handhabung anlangt, die selbst für Kinder völlig gefahrlos ist.
