Abstract

The available mattresses offer a wide variety of adaptation forms. These are, for example, hard and soft zones, innerspring foam or the like. The disadvantage here is that none of the previous mattresses let air through in the face position. But the new one should be able to do this thanks to its special structure. In order to make the mattress air-permeable in the face or stomach position, it is made of a mesh that is air-permeable. This extends either over the entire mattress or only over parts of the mattress and can be combined with other materials. The mattress is suitable for babies, small children and children, but also for the elderly, people with disabilities and sick people. It can be used for both medical and private use.

Description

2.1) The problem of infant death in the 1st to 2nd year of life has remained largely unresolved for years. A key point that no one mentions is the sleeping position of the child. According to general education and common sense, this should take place on the back, since the child can suffocate in the wrong sleeping position - say face to the mattress. A sleeping bag is also recommended instead of a loose blanket. This is to protect the child from suffocating with the blanket.

However, what parents cannot (entirely) influence is the position in which the child changes during sleep. No baby monitor, no parents, no matter how vigilant, always have a 100% view of their child. This not only costs nerves and anxiety, but can also lead to the child suffocating if the face is in the wrong position in relation to the mattress.

It should also be noted that the scope of use does not only refer to children but also to people in need of care and disabled people.

2.2) My development of a mattress, which is permeable to air, offers a remedy here. This means that the child (and those in need of care and the disabled) can continue to breathe even when lying on their stomach.

This should not only be a life-saving measure but also relieve the parents: Constant checking and restless sleep due to "Has my child just turned onto its stomach?" are a thing of the past.

Furthermore, the natural sleeping position of the child can be supported - not every child wants to sleep on its back at all. After the protracted process of falling asleep, these children usually have to be put back on their stomachs into a supine position. Waking up again, restless sleep and turning back later while the parents are asleep is almost inevitable. Drawings are dealt with in point 3.).

2.3) The areas of application relate not only to the area of children/infants but also to the general care of people and the disabled.

3.) The air-permeable mattress no longer consists of pure, continuous foam, but of a multiple layer of air-permeable material, which ensures that the child can breathe reliably even when the child is lying face down or in the case of care/people with disabilities.

This air-permeable material is sold in practice as "mesh" (translated: net). There it is often used as a base under the mattress, e.g. to prevent mold growth.

This "mesh" should now be used as the top layer of the mattress so that it becomes air-permeable. The mesh is varied in different strengths, depending on body weight. In order not to leave facial marks, the mesh can also be varied in terms of its hardness and structure (from coarse to fine).

The network consists of honeycombs or other geometric outlines (e.g. rectangle, square, circle, parallelogram, rhombus, triangle, hexagon...), which extends over the area (3)*(4) and partially into the depth of ( 6), where (5) represents the total thickness. (7) indicates exclusively that the network can extend over the entire area (3)*(4) or only over part of the area (3)*(4). The dimensions of pages (3), (4), (5), (6), (7) can vary according to your needs.

Mattress which, due to its nature, is able to ensure that a child or person to be cared for or people with disabilities lying on their face can continue to breathe without e.g. dying of suffocation or being damaged by insufficient oxygen supply to the brain. This is characterized by the fact that a mesh-like textile is used, which does not interfere with breathing. You can choose any size and adapt it to any bed.
