Bei herkömmlichen Rillenkugellagern werden dazu drei separate Bauteile eingesetzt, nämlich der Außenring, ein Gehäusebauteil und wenigstens eine Abdeckscheibe. Bei dem erfindungsgemäßen Rillenkugellager wird hingegen lediglich der einstückig, d. h. integral mit dem Gehäuse und der Abdeckscheibe ausgebildete Außenring benötigt, der einen im Wesentlichen topfförmigen Querschnitt aufweist. Da lediglich eine minimale Anzahl von Bauteilen zu montieren ist, können Montagefehler praktisch ausgeschlossen werden, da der Außenring gleichzeitig die Funktion eines Gehäuses und einer Abdeckscheibe ausübt.
