Mittels der erfindungsgemäßen Trenneinrichtung zur Trennung der Verbindung zwischen dem Bremselement und dem Kraftfahrzeug in Abhängigkeit von vordefinierten Parametern, ist es möglich, den Bremsvorgang individuell zu beeinflussen und dadurch an spezifische Besonderheiten anzupassen. Beispielsweise ist es möglich, die Trenneinrichtung zu aktivieren, sofern erkannt wird, dass das Kraftfahrzeug auch ohne die zusätzliche Bremswirkung des Bremselementes rechtzeitig zum Stehen kommt oder sofern erkannt wird, dass sich die Verkehrssituation derart geändert hat, dass es nicht mehr zu einem Unfall kommen wird, da sich beispielsweise ein anderes Kraftfahrzeug aus der Kollisionsspur heraus bewegt hat. Hierdurch kann eine formschlüssige Verbindung zwischen dem Bremselement und der Fahrbahn erreicht werden, wodurch die Verzögerung des Fahrzeuges deutlich erhöht werden kann. Vielmehr ist die erfindungsgemäße Bremseinrichtung in der Lage, eine so hohe Bremsverzögerung auf das Verbindungselement, respektive das Stahlseil, auszuüben, dass sich einerseits das Bremselement nicht von der Fahrbahn löst, andererseits aber die Bremsverzögerung in einem für die Fahrzeuginsassen erträglichen Rahmen gehalten wird.
