Ein erfindungsgemäßes Informationssystem 1 (Fig. 1) umfaßt ein Hausgerät 2 am Ort eines Dienstnehmers, also dem Betreiber des Hausgeräts 2 als Kunden des Systems 1. Über ein globales Netz 3 eines Dienstvermittlers 4 ist das Hausgerät 2 mit einem Dienstanbieter 6 verbunden, einem Kundendienst in einer Servicestelle 7. Bei Bedarf einer Betriebsanleitung wird eine Meldung 8 des Hausgeräts 2 durch den Dienstvermittler 4 an die Servicestelle 7 übertragen. Bei dem Dienstanbieter 6 der Servicestelle 7 wird anhand der Meldung 8 des Hausgeräts 2 der genaue Gerätetyp erkannt und eine automatisierte Verarbeitung gestartet. So werden in einem derartigen Haushalt zu jedem Hausgerät aktuelle Betriebsanleitungen verfügbar. Eine dementsprechende Meldung 8 der genannten Geräte veranlaßt den Dienstanbieter der Servicestelle 7 automatisch zu einer dem Gerätetyp entsprechenden Auswahl von Daten und der Absendung einer Rückmeldung 9 an den Kunden. Ist bei der Spülmaschine 11 die Funktion der mit dem Aufdruck "Intensiv" versehenen Taste nicht eindeutig klar, so kann hierzu in einer Betriebsanleitung nachgesehen werden. Wenn der Bedienhinweismodus aktiviert ist, kann z. B. bei Drücken der Taste beispielsweise über ein Mobiltelefon oder Telefon 12 eine akustische Erläuterung ausgegeben werden oder eine Anzeige in Kurzform als SMS auf einem Display des Telefons 12 erfolgen. Es wird dem Benutzer somit eine situations- und kontextbezogene Hilfsfunktion angeboten. Diese Hilfsfunktion besteht in einem ersten Schritt aus Gründen der Übersichtlichkeit aus einer Kurzanzeige zur komprimierten Schnellinformation.
