Wird in demselben Düngemittel die Zugabe von Pentachlorphenolnatrium auf 14,4 kg reduziert und werden 3,6 kg Natriumtetraborat zugegeben, so sind nach 3 Tagen Ackersenf und Kornblume abgetötet. Dieselbe Wirkung wird erzielt, wenn beispielsweise Natriumfluorid zu 50% durch Natriumtetraborat ausgetauscht oder Natriumfluorid vollständig durch eine anorganische oder organische Borverbindung ersetzt wird.
